Re: Replace OEM TIRES ??

Don't know what's the issue with the factory forteras. I bought the jeep with 38k miles on it and still have the forteras till today @ 43k. The ride is good enough for as wear as they are now. Don't know if because my DD BMW 335i with performance/stiffer suspension and low profile tire will make the jeep like I'm in the air. lol
Either way, it is time to change the forteras and get something else, and I been debating to go on/off road tires 285/50/20 for the aggressive design like the cooper zeon or get 285/50/20 all season tire less aggressive design like MS Defender and do a mid drop with srt or eibach spring, who ever is best.

If you can get the forteras to balance properly they do give a smooth ride and soak bumps up well because they are so soft. But so soft was one of the main issues I had with them ass they handled terribly. going down some wavy twisty roads with humps at a decent speed and they get to bouncing so much I felt like the jeep was destabilizing a few times. the Michelins were a world of difference on the same roads.

I take it the Defender is a bit more off road tire than the Premier? I want a good tired to asphalt in dry/wet/snow.

Defender is not an AT tire but it will let you dabble a bit more in mild-medium off road environments as well as being decent in snow as far as all season tires go and yet still a good on road performer. Premier is more of an on road tire that touts good wet traction. Both are great tires but they have leanings for different things

Question Re: Replace OEM TIRES ??

26K (3.2 years) on the 2015 Overland Fortera HLs and they are failing the 'penny test' on treads. Seems poor performance for tires rated for 60k. Will see if I can get anything on the limited warranty out of the Goodyear tire shop down the road, but have been told "good luck".

50/50 driving in town/highway, zero off-road, occasional gravel. About 3 trips per month Denver burbs to Breck/Vail/BC in winter. Tire rotations every 5k miles. No idea if this result is in-line with the above usage/care pattern, but seems disappointing.

After reading reviews here and on the goodyear site last night it seems a 50/50 split on either 'they suck!' ... and 'they're awesome!'

Hope the above data point and details are useful to others evaluating... will report back if I can get anything out of goodyear on the limited warranty. I'm guessing the emphasis will be on 'limited' and not 'warranty'

Re: Replace OEM TIRES ??

Can someone chime on the Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus? Thinking to go this route in 285/50/20 with OEM 20" wheels. No off-road for me, so I will stick with street tires.
Thanks

Re: Replace OEM TIRES ??

I replaced the Forteras with Michelin Premier LTX 255-55-20. They are outstandingly smooth and quiet and great in the rain. From what I see on TireRack they are great in the snow, too. Will have to wait to find out and give later review for snow.
