Before pinch weld:

After pinch weld mod... Drilled 1/4" holes in bent over sheet metal to secure liner with plastic fasteners/rivets. I was careful not to drill in welded tabs. Used heat gun to reform liner.

Do the 5100s play well with OE springs? How's the ride?

I'm personally very happy with the marriage. Spacer lift plus Bilstein plus oem coils....better than oem ride, even on my heavy ply LT tires

Agreed... I'm back on the lowest Bilstein setting now and it rides even better... I can definitely tell the difference in stiffness between the .4" and .75" settings. They would likely be very stiff @ the highest 1.75" setting. You have to consider the D rated LT change that also came with all this like Alludc mentioned.

Also note that the clearance behind the tire slightly opened up going to the lower setting, so I may have been able to get away without the pinch "kiss" I had. I'd say another .25"... The more you level out the more that rear gap narrows and front gap opens it seems... Oh well, it's done and done right, won't have to worry about it later if I want to go bigger.

Now I'm just playing with the psi...I'm pretty happy @44psi on the KO2s right now. I had them @41 and it felt more like OEM...44 feels more like a 4x4 should with slightly enhanced feel of the road. The guys at the shop said it was the best riding lifted vehicle they had seen...but cussed working on that front end!

Re: RRO 2.5" lift + Bilstein 5100(front)

FYI - I'm also seeing a slight sag on the drivers side front... ~3/8" lower than passenger side, which is sitting ~ 36.75". I wouldn't think it would do this after only 36k miles... Granted that's a lot of miles for a 14' but most of those miles are just me for work commute and I weigh 185 lbs.

For now it's fine...need to wrap up this mod session! Lol I'll wait and see what the best spring options are for replacement in 6-12 months. It could also be a variance in the control arms...not sure. Maybe the Eibach 2" springs, remove the spacer, and new UCA's.

Re: RRO 2.5" lift + Bilstein 5100(front)

Ok guys.
Let me make sure i've got it right.....

RRO 2.5 lift kit front and rear.
Bilstein 5100s front and rear (set at 0.4 in front).
OE springs.
Alignment.

RRO Control arms if desired.

Sound correct?

Yes...

The .4" up front comes from the 1st notch and is the lowest setting possible for our application. If someone tells you otherwise, they can confirm with Bilstein and have them say the same thing.

I didn't do the rear Bilsteins for now, but Alludc did. If you have the tow package & Nivomats, you'll need to convert the mounts to work. Alludc included the parts in his thread.

Good luck!

Re: RRO 2.5" lift + Bilstein 5100(front)

going to grab the rear TJ 3/4 inch spacer and rear 5100's to hopefully get a good aggressive stance to match the RRO leveling kit that I had installed. the rear shocks and spacer are pretty straight forward to install im assuming? and anything I need to buy besides the shocks and spacer?

I did the full lift, not the leveling kit, so I wouldn't have first-hand knowledge. I know some have done the RRO leveling kit and 3/4-1" TJ spacer. The Bilstein rears allow for up to 1" of additional lift/travel if I remember correctly as well. The RRO lift includes extended rear shock mount brackets.

There are a couple similar threads on this and the other forum. I don't remember seeing one specifically for the TJ spacer + Bilstein 5100. Also, there's this video that might help...

Good Luck!
