Rust on a 2011 overland!?

Not sure if I added the pictures the correct way. I bought a 2011 overland and I just seen rust behind the tires. Not sure what the name of the part it is( don't know a lot about parts etc).

Is this common? I overlooked it when I bought this Jeep. I can't BELEIVE a 2 year old car can have rust already. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Thanks in advance

Does your car sit in the rain for extended periods of time? It is not abnormal for rotors to rust. Some of that rust may also get flung on to your calipers once you drive it again.

Nothing to worry about.

Ok. So I guess I just have to deal with it then. I keep my jeep in the garage. But I bought this used. Not sure how the previous owner stored it. Hopefully it doesn't get much worse because it drives me crazy knowing its there.

Re: Rust on a 2011 overland!?

If you take the wheels off, you could then steel wool the affected metal, and then paint it with a high heat paint, to clean up the rust and prevent future rust. If I ever get around to removing my own wheels and I see how little or how much rust there might be, I'll probably do that at some point. I made my dealer steel wool those areas before I took delivery. I also had rust proofing and sound deadening material/chemical-coatings added to prevent rust.

Re: Rust on a 2011 overland!?

If there is no evidence of rust anywhere else, I wouldn't worry about it. If there is rust in other places, especially in hidden places...be concerned.
