Hi, is there any bilstein replacement strut or shock for wk2 without quadralift?

I have yet to see an application for any of the WK2's on Bilsteins site currently. If there was, I'd definately be in the market for a set.

Travel, no. There are no actual suspension kits on the market. Rocky Road makes a 2.5" spacer kit that sits on top of the strut so it doesn't take away much travel. It just allows you to fit a larger tire and improved ground clearance.

Anyone check out the "Heavy Duty Twin Tube Gas 2 GS29-730" Shock Dobinsons makes for the WK2? Looks like the make coils for the WK2 as well. It is located on a .pdf on their website, Dobinsonusa.com. I was also curious if there was any replacement shocks out yet. This was all I could find. I am going to do the Rocky Road 2.5 lift, but wanted to see if I could upgrade the shocks at the same time.

"Dobinsons set about designing, testing and developing a full-replacement suspension kit to improve the Jeep's ground clearance and off-road performance. Consisting of heavy-duty replacement Coil Springs and heavy-duty Twin Tube Gas Shock Absorbers, the kit was developed with a number of different weight-carrying options to ensure the suspension is tailored to each vehicle whilst offering a 40mm lift."

Somebody on here has to be running this, no?

Hey warwagon. I am currently runing the Dobinsons.

Nice lift not to big and still has a nice ride to her.

Full spring and shock lift rear

and front

The good folk at Dobinsons did a great job, I am stoked with the result. The Jeep handels well as it is still within engineered limilts. The ride is a bit firmer but I think it will settle with some wear. And a gret price.

So, hypothetically, if you wanted slighty more than a 2.5 inch lift, you could do the RR 2.5 + the Dobinson 40mm Coils for a lift of around 4 inches. The only questions would be shock travel length and getting into stress on other bits and parts of the vehicle like shafts, etc.??? But hey, would love to see some one fit 35's on this setup lol!!

Shambles, you have a really nice ride, looks great! Glad to see someone on here try these babies out! Would love some long-term feed back.

A couple quick questions for you:

- I read that "... the kit was developed with a number of different weight-carrying options to ensure the suspension is tailored to each vehicle whilst offering a 40mm lift." What weight option did you choose?

- How much did you pay? (You can PM me of course)

- And your's or anyone's thoughts on installing the RR 2.5 on top of this setup for around a 4 inch lift? Would this push it passed it's engeneered limits? What would fail? Very curious...

I have only had them on for a few weeks now but I will do a few trips and report back in about 6 mths. But to date I am very happy with no noticeable change in handling or comfort.

I like her with a higher skirt, once I get better rubber on I think the beastie will look even better.

Apparently not all Jeeps are built the same. CRD, V6 and Hemi have differing requirements...?...and settings

I have the V6 and went the medium springs as I do not tow but these increased my towing capacity by 400kg. You can get a heavier duty spring but I felt that would make the rear a bit to tight during the daily drive and as I don’t tow I only got what I needed.

I was quoted AU$1500 but due to the factory fit got them at cost.

The 40mm suits me, just that little bit more clearance and hub space. Im not mechanically minded so cant help with the rest.

Good luck on your quest to achive what you want.

Is anyone else running the Dobinson springs on their WK2 yet? I'm considering the Dobinson springs because I think the 2.5'' RR kit may wear the CVs prematurely. Thoughts?

I'd like to see a pic with some oversized tires. Any thoughts on what size tires should fit with a 40mm (1.5 inch) Dobinson spring lift?

Hey Bill I am currently running 275/60/18 Hercules AT's so not oversized but I could go 285/65/18's or even squeeze in a set of 275/70/18's depending on how agressive the tread is....just.

Any updates on these? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a lift and want to replace the front shocks at the same time. I've already had both front shock replaced due to them leaking and they feel like their starting to have problems again. Haven't even had a chance to really off road yet.

hey airborne89

I have done around 4000km on them since i got them installed. No problems with them whatsoever.

I am realy happy with the lift and the ride.

I am not an off road nazi but do travel dirt/gravel roads daily and go on long road trips where I tackle deep ruts and a little mud in search of that secluded fishing spot but nothing too serious.

With the lift i got new rims and went down to the 18'' size which leave heaps of room for MT's if I need them.

Running ATs at the moment and being a spring and shock lift have had no issues with leaks, rattles or topping out

I've contacted Dobinsons to see about shocks for WK2s with Quadra-lift. Their response was that they don't have them and won't have them. I guess they are more into springs and lift kits than shocks on their own. Let's hope Bilstein, Fox, Koni etc. come to the party pretty soon.
