Spare for Duratracs

Looking at getting the 275/65R18 Duratracs. Since It looks like the diameter will fit, but the width prevents the spare lid to close I'm looking to put a 255/70R18 on the spare. If my calcs are correct that will be closest diameter to the Duratracs.

I'm leaning toward the rugged terrains or the silent armors for the spare.

Is my thinking correct in that the 255 will be a good spare?

Re: Spare for Duratracs

I to am looking to use 255/70/18 as a spare. The diameter is about 32 ins and the width is about 10.3 ins (Tirerack). I think the tire would fit in the spare compartment as far as diameter (the plastic sides of the well give some), but I am not sure the spare compartment lid would close. The width of my OEM spare (245/65/18) is 9.8 ins and the top of the spare is very close to the lid when closed. The 255/70/18 spare is about 1/2 in thicker so I just don't know if the lid would close?

Re: Spare for Duratracs

I have a 255/70R18 spare right now. The lid closes however the plastic bins no longer fit.

Bridgestone Dueler A/T RH-S. It was the spare tire from a JK Sahara.
