Spare Tire Suggestion for 275/55-20

Hello!

Driving a 2012 JGC Altitude and after reading a lot of posts on the forum here about successfully upsizing, I decided to order a new set of BFG KO2 275/55-20 tires (OEM 265/50-20) to be installed this week and now I'm thinking about the spare tire.

I've read it would be pretty dangerous to use the OEM spare having different dimensions and rotation speed, so I'm wondering if anyone might have any suggestions on size for a spare that would work with this setup and with some luck, squeeze into the existing spare tire compartment. Many thanks!

Re: Spare Tire Suggestion for 275/55-20

You want a spare that's the same diameter. There are calculators online that can help you figure out the best size that matches diameter but is a little narrower to mimic the OEM "full size" spare so that the lid sits flush. I believe that if you remove the plastic inserts in the well, you can achieve something like 32" which is the max for the four corners, anyway, without physical modification of the JGC. OEM "full size" spare uses an 18x8 wheel, if I'm not mistaken.
