Speedometer Calibration for larger diameter tires

It's time for a new set of tires and I'm thinking about 275/55/20s but I want the speedometer to be correct. From what I read here and in other places google has sent me to, it appears that it cannot be done at a reasonable price, if at all.

However, I found something that claims to work with a 2013 GC Overland 5.7 and I wanted to see if anyone has heard of this or knows for sure.

It is called the Pro-Comp Accu-Pro Speedometer Calibrator.

Any thoughts or feedback about this item would be most appreciated.

Re: Speedometer Calibration for larger diameter tires

Speedo is out about 5 km/h...I don't mind extending my warranty.

Sorry...don't know about that device.

That looks interesting, I wonder how you input new tire diameter?

Re: Speedometer Calibration for larger diameter tires

I've not heard of the product you mention...if it can do what you indicate it can do, that would be great. That said, the JGC computer only has one setting in it...for the OEM ~30.6" diameter tires...which is why a dealer service department cannot adjust the calibration for different sized tires. So unless this third party accommodation is real, any upsizing (or downsizing) of tires will result in the speedo and odo being inaccurate.

Re: Speedometer Calibration for larger diameter tires

I recently put 33x12.5R20's on my 2011 JGC and used a Diablosport tuner to change the tire size and worked just fine. According to both driving next to my wife in her car at 30 mph and a police speed warning sign that displays mph, it's accurate.

Re: Speedometer Calibration for larger diameter tires

That's good to know, N8BALL. Of course, that's a somewhat expensive option for most folks! But at least it can do a whole lot of nice things for folks who want to eek out a bit of extra performance...

Re: Speedometer Calibration for larger diameter tires

For the diesel, Edge look like the only game in town, for gas burners, there are several others in the $400 range but one also gets tuning. If more will be offered, it will be in the 4-8 weeks to get the Xmas $$. I'll be putting on 32" mud tires so I sure would like to correct for the 1.5" difference.

Wait, Edge has a box to correct for oversize tires on a WK2 ecodiesel? Link?

Phillip,

At this time we do not offer any products for that application.
