Re: SRT sway bars.

I'm a new GC owner, resurrecting an old discussion here.....

Will the SRT sway bars fit/work on a GC Limited (2015) with the Quadra-Lift suspension?

Re: SRT sway bars.

I'll help you dig

Are the swaybars on the Summit different from the SRT? Since the Summit and SRT seem to share a lot of the appearance differences from the rest of the WK2 line up, maybe there's some under hood differences too... Like omitting the skid plates for example.

Re: SRT sway bars.

Should be just like WK. different part #'s for SRT. Justforjeeps is showing different part #'s for srt swaybars and regular WK2 swaybars. Thinking of upgrading swaybars on the wife's 2015 altitude and end links as well.

Re: SRT sway bars.

I'm not sure if the SRT rear bar in a direct replacement for the regular Limited rear bar, but I found in another discussion on this site, that the SRT bar is about 25 MM, and I crawled under my GC and measured the bar, and it's 23 MM.

For grins, I checked the ADDCO web site, as well as the Hellwig site, and Hellwig lists a 1" diameter (25.4 MM) rear bar. They also claim it fits 2WD, 4WD, and "air suspension" equipped WK2s. It comes with what appear to be polyurethane bar bushings, and the instruction sheet says to use the factory hardware and endlinks.

It looks like I'm going to have to be a "test pilot"....

I switched my rear sway bar on the '14 limited V8 to the srt sway bar... Perfect fit and pretty easy to accomplish (bolts locked up on me on the left side). You don't need to change the end links to the srt version unless your lowering your limited. The links are shorter because the srt is sitting lower.

Re: SRT sway bars.

So the SRT is geared towards the road, whereas the rest of the line up, especially the ones with GD and QL are off road capable.

How does a stiffer rear bar impact the latter? I would imagine it would put more strain on certain components in rock crawling conditions?

I would love to have a better handling jeep on the road, but not if it means that I have thereby diminished it's off road capabilities, which, in my case, take up 40% of the driving I do with it.

Re: SRT sway bars.

Well, I did some "market research" this AM, and it appears that there weren't any of the Hellwig bars in stock, anywhere on the east coast. I was leaning toward the Hellwig bar, because it uses polyurethane bushings, which can tighten up the bar's response a little bit, over the rubber bushings that are on OE bars. However, from what I was able to determine, I couldn't have one in my hot little hands for at least 7-10 days, and my window of opportunity, with respect to being able to work on the Jeep before it gets cold and snowy, is closing.

Therefore, I called Just For Jeeps, and they had the factory SRT bar in stock, and are shipping it out today, with an expected arrival by Monday. So, depending on what time the FedEx truck arrives, there's a possibility that the bar could be on my GC by Monday evening...

Re: SRT sway bars.

Interesting thing is, and I believe I read it earlier in this thread too, the part number for the rear sway bars is identical for all WK2's, it's the front bar that has a different part number.

Not trying to rain, or snow in your case, on your parade, but you may be installing an identical bar...

Well, I'll certainly measure it right after I pull it out of the box, HOWEVER, on the Just For Jeeps website, their description on the bar is that it's an SRT bar, and is 25MM in diameter. I also was doing some "price shopping" before pulling the trigger, and checked the Moparpartsonline website, and under rear sway bar, they list two. One is listed as "high performance", and the two are different prices, with the "HP" part being a few dollars more.

I guess time will tell.......
