They made a good decision to improve quality of the tires they select, too bad it took so long. The Bridgestone and Pirelli models they picked are at the top of the charts at tire rack where the forteras linger towards the bottom.
I'm hoping they also dump the Michelin Latitude tires on the 18's.

18s for 2016 get michilian premier LTX. And ORAII 18s get an AT tire.

Re: Steering wheel vibration at 70MPH

Its definitely the tires. I have found if I over inflate them they are significantly better but of course this isn't the safest thing to do. I'm on my second set of fortera tires and both sets acted the same way.

I don't do much highway driving so I went the cheap route on tires. If I do take a road trip I inflate them to 55psi which seems to keep the shaking steering wheel in check ... though it could also be the fact that the tires true up with a bit of heat in them. Who knows.

Re: Steering wheel vibration at 70MPH

I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee Summit and only 1,300 miles on the odometer. I'm having the same issue. Vibration above 65mph. Both in the steering wheel and the seat. I took it to discount tire today and they did a spin balance, said they were off from the assembly line (maybe their machine was off) Didn't solve the issue, actually made it worse. Going to the dealer tomorrow. Will report back on what they say. I have the good year forteras. Maybe I'll end up buying a different tire.

Re: Steering wheel vibration at 70MPH

I have to ask. Have people actually purchased a different brand of tires and that solved the issue? If the dealership can't fix I'll be purchasing a different tire and see if that solves it. I really like the Yokohama yk580. I had these on a few other cars prior.

Make sure they road force balance them not just spin balance, it does make a difference. And yes a good quality tire can make a difference, the forteras are cheap garbage. Michilian are a good go to tire when you are fighting balance issues

It's the tires, on my jeep anyway. Took to the dealership today. They road force balanced all 4 tires. Two balanced perfectly and two were slightly out of spec. They placed the two in spec on the front and the two out of spec on the rear. No more shake in the wheel at highway speeds! Maybe I just run them like this until I need new tires then will spend the money to get a better set.

I hate it when dealers do crap like that. A new car with 1300 miles on it they validate 2 tires are out of spec and instead of replacing them like they should have they throw the bad ones on the back. All that does is delay the problem until you rotate them. You should not be forced to leave the good ones on the front and not rotate I'd take it back and make them replace the bad ones. Yet another rotten dealer.

Steering wheel vibration at 70MPH

Only suckers rotate tires these days... No point.

Wheel out of balance... Balance it
Alignment out of spec... Get an alignment.

There most certainly is a point to rotating tires. Just because you choose not to rotate does not mean people that do are suckers or somehow wrong.
