Resolved: Stiffer ride with 2016 Overland over 2014 Limited?

I just picked up a 2016 Overland after driving a Limited for 3 years. I seem to feel every little bump in the road with the Overland which is surprising with QL. I'm at normal ride height. I had the same 20 inch rims on the Limited as the Overland, but the Overland has Bridgestone tires. Is it the tires, the suspension, a setting or just normal? Maybe the limited just got softer over time?

Figured out the issue. The dealer inflated the tires to the max psi of the tire which is 44psi. One of the tires was actually 47 psi.

The label on the door specified 33 psi front and 36 psi rear cold. I deflated to about 38 all around the vehicle for now and it the ride was much better.

Exactly! My HA ride was hard too..noticed my front tires were 44, and rear were 42. Reduced it to 36 on fronts and 38 for rears...the ride is much better. Wonder why they will over inflate it.

They're inflated to max from factory for shipping to prevent problems during the ride over to your dealer, most don't check the air pressure before delivering to the customer (mine didn't)

Yes, always adjust tires after taking delivery. They are always very high! I run my tires at around 38psi all around. Just a little above recommended because of the large temperature swings we see here on a regular basis...Just the other day for example, was 71 degrees out, and the next day was 34 and snowing LOL.

They are intentionally set at a higher preasure to help lessen flat spotting for vehicles that maybe sitting on dealer lots for months. They should set them at the spec on the door during the vehicle prep when you buy it. Unfortunately with many lazy dealers the vehicle prep is just 5 minutes of ripping plastic off instead of spending the time and going through the whole check list.

So the 2016 20s are recommending 33 psi front and 36 psi rear? Thats a change from the 36 psi all the way around on the 20s prior to 2016. They may have done that to assist is softening the ride. The forteras that were on 20s prior to 2016 were a very soft mushy (and bad handling) tire, soaking up bumps was their only good point. The 2016 tires are better but may be a little stiffer.
