stock 17" Laredo wheel

Hi gang,,
I have a 13' Laredo w/ ORA1 & it's time for new tires. I was wondering if 255/75/17 's would fit on my stock 17" & would I have any clearance problems? ,and has anyone ran a similar setup?
thx
AT71

Re: stock 17" Laredo wheel

I recently installed 265/70/17 A/T's on stock wheels with no problems.

Good choice on increasing tire size. I can't stand the measly 245's, but my GC is my commuter until I get a cheap Honda next month.
I'm ready for some beef to compliment my RRO leveling kit!

Re: stock 17" Laredo wheel

hi i have a 2011 jeep with stock 17 wheels, ive been trying to find a solid answer to see if i can get larger tires. the stock is 245/70/17 and i want 265/70/17..can you guys just confirm for me that i can increase this size and i will have no problems. i also have 1.5 inch spacers but i do not think that should be an issue?

If you didn't have those spacers, I bet you'd be fine. But because of them changing the offset so much, I doubt you will be able to fit 265's. I know I tried fitting 265/70's on mine after I got my 1.25" spacers on and there was no way they were going to clear in the front without a lift or level.

*I always forget, but I was using JK Moab take-offs during the install and they have a lower offset than the GC wheels come with (44.45" vs 56.4") and that may have attributed to the loss of clearance for me. So YMMV, but I bet it will be the same outcome as my experience.

Re: stock 17" Laredo wheel

Thanks for the info! would you recommend me taking my spacers off and getting 265's? or go with 245's. i am a fan of how the spacers make the jeep look. or getting a level kit but i heard there are some rubbing with the level kit

Well you're asking someone who's gone back and forth at least 20 times now in trying to decide what direction I want to finally go with mine and it's been tough. So I'll give just give you my outlook on how I've been making my decisions so far.

I don't like how mine looks with the wider stance and narrow 265 tires, so the 245's with the spacers would look wrong to me. But to you it may be just right...everything is so subjective with exterior mods.

I do however love the wider stance and would never go back to the stock offset, so getting rid of the spacers isn't an option there. Although aftermarket wheels with lower offset could be a solution for you, but I'm not a fan of basically anything I've seen available in our lug pattern and size and I've browsed through a lot of options.

And the only reason I didn't follow through with my original plan to get a leveling kit and eventually upsize was because I kept seeing people getting it installed and the front end appeared to sit higher than the rear and that bothered me as soon as I noticed it. I think it's more of an illusion and the certain tire sizes people choose, but it worries me having to jump into it and not feeling 100% confident in the finished result. I also haven't really heard much about people having rubbing issues after installing the level, unless you try to upsize tires too high. Otherwise, there shouldn't be any problems with the additional clearance.

Sorry for the rambling, but hope that helps you out a bit.

Yes, after installing my leveling kit I couldnt handle the "Baja truck rear sag." Especially since I load the GC down with gear for vacations, overlanding and occasional towing. I really wish I could remeber the member, on here or jeepforum, that turned me on to throwing Daystar JK 3/4 inch spacers under the rear springs. Got a set of four for $30. This gave me a very slight raked appearance again. Not as much as stock but just enough. I took pics of the install but lost them due to a corrupt memory card. Just know that it's a simple 1-2 hour job to lift the rear, unbolt the sway and strut, and slip the spacer under each spring. I kept the lower spring guide and even drilled a few akward holes in it, to run zip ties around it,to secure it and the spacer.
I just ordered my 1.25 wheel spacers last week. I plan on getting some 265/65's next spring.
