Re: Stock GY Fortera 20" > Expectations

I have about 20000mi on my Cooper LTZs, Noise level not noticeable from stock. Ride, IMO is Much better good in the snow and rain. The Gas mileage did go down about 3-4 mpg and that is the only drawback but it is expected with a more aggressive tire. I think they call it rolling force/resistance.

You running the 275 with coil suspension and just the leveling kit, right? How much have you use the tire off-road? Any issues with rubbing, etc?

Yes, 275-55-20 coil suspension and Leveling kit. Just some trail riding NO rock crawling No rubbing. But I have 1 1/4" Bora spacers

$137/ea at NTB -all inclusive price for Forteras. Got 50000 miles out of original set and just below 4/32. Since it's my wife's commuter, this was a no- brainer.

I think I got my second set for $135 per tire at Discount Tire. Nice and quiet.

The only problem Ive had with the Forteras is if the GC sits for awhile it develops a flat spot that wiggles for a few miles, other than that they have been great.

While the stock Fortera's aren't that great.. They are not bad enough to scrap them before they are wore out...you might as well get some good out of them...
That opinion could change with the 1st real blizzard, but over all, They haven't been bad enough to say scrap them right away and I've got 15 k on them......

Re: Stock GY Fortera 20" > Expectations

I've been on the Fortera for a bout a year now and under normal driving they are fine, but for conditions like snow or slick roads they simply water down the Jeep's capabilities as expressed in their own advertising.

I was going up/down a fairly step mountain road in Vermont recently that was covered with a thin layer of snow and I did not feel at all confident on them. The GC too me did not perform any better than other SUVs that were on the road with me.

I agree! If you live in a warm State & never leave the highway, the Fortera tires might be marginally OK. However, if you ever experience winter snow, you'd better start looking for replacement AT tires ASAP! The Fortera's really suck on snow, ice, or even slushy roads!
