Well you are the one that posted in a public forum, yes?

You still haven't answered my question about how often are you going to be in OR2 mode?

I still say trade it in since it's such a huge disappointment to you.

Good luck!

Yes, I did. Your point? I asked if this was normal. Apparently the answer is yes. Anything else you'd like to add? Please, don't.

Why do you ask? Why is this important to you? I plan on having it in OR2 mode enough that the issue is going to bother me.

Re: Suspension noises galone in Off Road 2

I haven't really used or2, but just some general experience... When you really start to max and load suspensions up they tend to pop, snap, and make a lot of noise. The suspension on our race car makes a bunch of noises under certain circumstances in the track when fully loaded up or unloaded, it doesn't surprise me the QL does the same when fully extended.

If it rides and sounds normal at normal ride height I don't think it's anything to worry about

The noise in OR2 is perfectly normal...and you can't really design it out. If you did, then someone would claim that you're not lifting the vehicle as far as the design would allow so you're leaving capability on the table. Plus, you can only articulate a suspension so far. In OR2 you're at the upper travel limit of the suspension. The bangs and pops you are hearing are the suspension hitting against the stops on rebound. It sounds rough but isn't going to damage anything.

Re: Suspension noises galone in Off Road 2

Thanks, Peter. I think I understand that it's normal and not hurting anything. It just sounds obnoxious and quite frankly, embarrassing when I have passengers.

Mine does it as well. I embarrassed myself on a speed bump once when it was new. OR1 works better around town for speed bumps. Sport mode is rough, but fun.

Just remember that OR2 is really the "extreme" rock-crawling driving over trees and boulders kind of mode (slight exaggeration but you get the drift). It's not really a mode you're meant to stay in...you're sacrificing comfort (and quiet) to get over obstacles without bottoming. OR1 is really the more "normal" off-road mode.

And the key term is off-road. Neither OR1 nor OR2 are meant for cruising around town.
