I have 14 GC on order. I wanted 18" wheels so I got ORAII package. Will most likely will get Michelin Latitude tires with this package unless something has changed for MY2014. Thinking about swapping tires right away and getting LTX M/S or SlientArmors. If I would do this I would have most likely less than 100 miles on those tires.
Did anybody went through something like this? What kind of deals did you guys got? What is reasonable? Obviously will take a hit, just wondering how much and if it is worth it.
I'm contemplating the exact same thing. In fact I've already ordered the LTX M/S2 tires from a local tire dealer. I have a tentative buyer for the Latitudes for $400. That's approx. half the dealer price. I haven't taken delivery of my GC yet, in fact, it's build hasn't started, so it's not a done deal with the buyer. But, to me, I think it's a fair price, after all, since I'm not a dealer, I really can't give a warranty or anything, but they will be basically brand new. I suppose if that deal falls through I'll put them on Craig's List for the same price. I know I'd buy brand new tires for half price. The Latitudes aren't bad tires, but they're just not that good in deep snow, of which I get plenty.
I completely agree with you that the Latitudes are not good in snow. I have them on my 2011 GC limited. We had lots of snow in Wis this year and they don't have the traction like the Goodyears on my previous Jeeps. Am planning on getting a 2014 Overland with the 20" Goodyears rather than replacing the Latitudes on my 2011. I thought if you ordered the ORA-II package you got Goodyear tires, but apparently that is not the case. My local dealer doesn't have any Limits or Overlands with 18" tires, all have the 20". Al
ORA II comes with Latitudes. I've got 18" Goodyear Fortera HL's on my Buick Enclave, and they were a bear in the snow. They're needing replaced now, so I ordered a '14 GC.
I can't wait until mine are worn out, but I will. It won't take long. You'll be very lucky to get $400 for a set of used tires. I'd be tickled. I can't believe CR rates the Latitudes good in snow. I wonder what they're smoking?
I'll be taking them off as soon as my GC is delivered. Will only have less than 50 miles on them. But you are right, they will be "used". I still think that $400 is a fair price, considering they're $808 at Tire Rack minus tax and shipping.
I have had Michelin LTX M/S 2's since 1500 miles; one drive in moderate snow with the latitudes and they were sold ($600) I love the LTX's; they are a great match and long lasting. Very quiet; snow and rain are never an issue now.
