Swapped 20's for 18's

A friend purchased a 2014 GC Limited with 18" wheels/Michelin Latitudes. He purchased aftermarket 20's, and took the 18's off with less than 5 miles on them. He sold me the 18's, with tires, for less than 4 Latitudes would cost.

My Limited came with 20's, and I was never happy with the above 65 mph steering vibration, as well as the ride comfort. My GC is leased, and I figured that at some point before turning it in, I'd have to buy new tires anyway...So, I decided to run the 18's in the winter, and the 20's in the summer.

I was astounded by the difference in ride quality, as well as lack of vibration of the 18's, vs. the 20's with Forteras.

I love the look of the 20's, but with the 18's, my GC feels like a different vehicle. I feel pretty confident that the problem is the Fortera's.

experienced the same thing with my '11 overland with 20s. I didn't want to give up the 20 look so went back to them and will be installing new rubber on the 20s tomorrow. I have had two different shops tell me that 2 of my oem Forteras are unable to be perfectly balanced due to poor quality so I too believe that most vibration issues with the 20s are related to the forteras.

I plan on replacing the Fortera's with something else as well, and running them in the summer. Really disappointed that Jeep chose these tires.
