Switching from 20" to 18"

Turning to the group for comments and recommendations.

Have a 2015 Altitude and just got some (fixable) wheel damage from an infamous Chicago pothole. The fear/expectation of that happening again plus frequent trips along unpaved roads in Upper Michigan have me strongly considering a switch to 18" wheels with some thicker rubber.

Would like to keep the Altitude look and have focused on Mopar 82212377 with 265/60R18 Nokian WRG3 SUV.

Do I have to worry about the speedo? Tried to do my homework and believe it's close enough that the difference is negligible. Would appreciate any other thoughts from you all.

Thanks.

Re: Switching from 20" to 18"

I changed at the time of purchase, purely for cosmetic reasons. Speedo is not an issue, it is out by 2km/h (checked against in car GPS and 3rd party GPS) but that is normal for all cars anyway.
TPS is also not an issue.

You will have more and cheaper options with the 18s, and slightly more roll in corners.

Re: Switching from 20" to 18"

My 2012 Limited had 20" wheels on the dealer lot. I had them swapped out for 18" at time of purchase. The dealer re-calibrated the speedometer. I don't know how necessary it was. Depends on whether the O.D. of the 18" and 20" tires are the same.
