Talking Switching Stock 17s on the laredo to overland 20' and need HELP!

i am planning on buying new 20' polished aluminum wheels that come stock with the overland as well as new 265 tires to replace my stock 17s and 245 tires on my 2012 laredo. Would i run into any problems with this such as speedometer problems, ect? please help me find out!!

You should be ok if you stay with the stock sizes. It's all about the diameter. Check this calculator out, I've used it before.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I just switched from the 18's to the highly polished Summit 20's today.

Re: Switching Stock 17s on the laredo to overland 20' and need HELP!

If your planning on swapping out OEM 17" wheels with OEM 20" polished wheels and are going to use OEM sized rubber, (P265/50R20 for the polished wheels) you will have not changed the rolling diameter of your wheel/tire package. It would stay at 30.5" either way. This means your speed/odmeter would be exactly the same as before.

If your looking for some OEM Goodyear P265/50R20 takeoff tires, PM me.
I removed mine after a week at ~ 300 miles.

I just used that calculator and it said there would be a 14.2% change in speedometer. That sounds bad but I want these new wheels really bad what do I do?

Re: Switching Stock 17s on the laredo to overland 20' and need HELP!

You are doing something wrong in the calculator. What are the exact size of tires you are wanting? You'll need new 20" tires to go on your 20" Overland wheels. If they are the OE 20" size, you'll be fine. If they are some other size, you may not...

Clay - recheck the numbers you put into the calculator.

245/70/17 = 30.5" tire
265/50/20 = 30.4 tire
Difference = 0.2%

You should see no difference on your speedo.

I just got back from day 2 with the new 20's. I was curious how the JGC would drive as compared to the 18's. As expected, you feel more of the bumps and such in the road, so ride isn't quite as smooth. I am impressed in how much better "grip" it seems to have. It just feels like it handles better.

Thinking off doing the same upgrade. Did you replace spare if ticking with oem sizes? Would be jumping from stock 18 to stock 20.
