Taller Tire Option..... 265/70/18?

So, I have searched and read down through many pages around tire sizes but I have not been able to find a thread with the exact size I am wanting to run. I have seen threads with 265/65 and 275/65 tires, both of which measure out to 31.5-32.1" and are 10.7-11" wide. I have a Summit with the Air Suspension. So from what I can read I need to worry some about the upper arm joints. This leaves me with a couple questions I have below:

1) I want to try and run the 265/70/18 which is 32.6" tall and 10.7" wide. Has anyone tried this tire?

2) I will probably be trying to run the tire on an OEM set of the 18" Stock ORA2 wheels. Will there be enough clearance with these wheels or should I be looking aftermarket to get a different off-set?

3) Lastly, what is the opinion between LT and P tires? I am looking at Toyo AT2's and between P and LT is 1.5lbs/tire. So weight isn't an issue, just wondering what people have had the best results with. I know on my LR4 I had P tires and sliced one very quickly off-road where my LT DuraTrac's on my JKUR never had an issue.

This set of wheels and tires will only be used when going off-roading. So, not full time set-up as I will use the stock 20's when going on trips.

I run 255-70-18 on steelies with no issues. That gives about 32.1 tall and 10.04 wide... no issue here

Yea, I have seen that the Stock JKUR tires will fit as well. Same ~32" range.

Just wondering if that extra ~0.5" starts putting things into the liner at any level?

I also just read back through the Zybane Artic build and looks like he ran a similar size tire or at least called it a 33" tire but I need to finish reading back through there to see if he had any issues.

In reading back through the "Artic" build I was able to find that he was using this exact same size. Small amount of rubbing in normal height mode on the felt liners. Sounds like nothing to be overly concerned about.

P stands for passenger vehicle, LT is Light Truck. LT's have more plies(layers), are stiffer, high pressure and ride harsher.

Look forward to it. Wish you had the QL system though. Looks like those wheels have a 0 offset? Going to stick out a bit.

Well that sucks that the installer bailed. Id love to hear how the new tires ride and if they make much noise at highway speeds.

I just picked up a 2014 Summit and am trying to decide on which tires to upgrade to in 275/55R20.

Re: Taller Tire Option..... 265/70/18?

Well got the rear RRO spacers and tires put on, but as we started the front, the left front control arm bolt was so tight from the factory that we ended up stripping the threads trying to get it off and now we're going to have to cut it off. So at the moment the jeep is sitting in the driveway looking like a hot rod. Unfortunately have to go pickup some new control arms tomorrow, knew I should have just bought the RRO kit with control arms! But on a positive note the 265/70/r17 tires are the looking to be the perfect size (imo). More updates and pics as soon as it's fixed.
