Re: The official Lifted WK2 Tread, non QL

Started installing the RRO lift Friday. The back went on in roughly 2-hours.

The front on the other hand.... only got the passenger side done in about 4-hours. The axle came out (RROs instructions say this may happen). With the CV boot on we couldn't tell what the spindles looked like in order to put it back in. Plus, with the extra 2" it was hard to compress the strut and coil enough to get the axle back to "level" in order to pop it back in. Eventually we got the CV boot retainer ring off and were able to see how it lined up and with some careful pulling of the knuckle assembly, jacking of the strut & coil from beneath the control arm and pushing on the axle we got it back in.

Didn't get to the drivers side as it got dark out. Will attempt that later this week when my buddy is available again. I'll also get a few photos up.

I would say if you are not "mechanically inclined" do not try it at home. My buddy is an ex-Chrysler mechanic and I am a Mechanical Engineer and he and I have been working on Jeeps and cars for more than half of our 30-yr lives. Also, Air tools were very necessary to get a lot of the bolts off. If you don't have them it will take twice as long.

Obviously no comment on ride quality yet.

Suggestion, if you do plan to install the lift, consider switching to the BWoody Sway bar links while you are at it. You have to remove one, if not both of their bolts anyway, may as well do it all at once. When my lift is on I am going to go talk with BWoody to see if they wanna make longer Sway Bars for lifted Jeeps.

Gotcha, I was just curious if you ran into the same problem as me but I guess you didn't

What size, brand tires are you running? How's the ride so far?

It does look great, I hope to finish mine this week...

Re: The official Lifted WK2 Tread, non QL

I haven't put to many miles with the lift on yet but my initial feel is that the ride is pretty much the same. I'd say its a little more harsh over speed bumps and such, but I have no complaints so far. Still feels great on the highway. I love the feel of the added height in the cab!

Tires are 245/75/17 Goodyear Duratracs
