Re: The official Wheel thread

Thanks to you and HEMI Army for the information. I am a computer geek, not very savvy with mechanical things, so understanding how changes like that are difficult for me. Thanks again.

Re: The official Wheel thread

As far as the change in speedo, I've read that the computer can be programmed with the new tire size to make the speed correct. Is that true?

Depending on the year, there are aftermarket programmers (like Bullydog or Diablo) that you can use to reprogram for new tire size, as well as many other things.

Re: The official Wheel thread

It's more about the weight then the size. I went from stock 245/70/17 61lbs to the 265/70/17 bfg mts 81lbs. I didn't weigh just the wheels or tire but I would think that most of the weight was with the tires. I have noticed that trans drops down to 7th more at highway speeds. With larger tires you will be going further then the mileage showing.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned unsprung weight earlier. Thing is in GC applications you'll be hard pressed to go up in weight enough to matter. When I built JKs, you'd notice the weight big time putting on 40" MTR/Ks on beadlock wheels from a stock 32" setup.

I bought these in 18' for my 2014 Grand Cherokee I have on order. My delivery should be within the next two months or so. CarID told me to try them on before the tires are mounted, they can't take them back if the tires have already been mounted.

I'll do the precise wheel math for you if you can tell me if they're 18x8 or 18x8.5? Also, what size tire are you using? Stock or aftermarket?

Those wheels should fit just fine. They will stick out 1 5/64th inches (27.75mm) more than the stock 18x8" wheel. You will just need to check caliper clearance to the spokes but I see no problems.
You should use hub rings as the Jeep center bore is 71.5mm (hub) and those wheel have a 78.3 center bore.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. Also, based upon your two versions I assume both the OEM 18' and 20' have the same offset.
They did come with the rings. I will post a photo a few days after I take delivery. There is a +35 Offset on these rims; I assume this is where the 27.35mm difference is. So let me see if I understand this. (I am totally new to this sizing thing.) The Stock Offset should be:
35mm + 27.35mm = 62.35mm Right? Meaning, the OEM rims rest about 2 1/2 inches off center. Where the ATX Artillery will rest about 1 3/8 inches off center causing them to stick out about an inch more. Correct? Or are my facts and/or math wrong.

BTW, The Manufacturer signed off on these fitting, because of this, they extended the fitment warranty to my delivery time. I have been very pleased with CarID's service so far.

Re: The official Wheel thread

I just read the offset for all WK2 OEM rims was 56.4mm not 62.35mm. So I am more confused what all of this means.

Quote:
Grand Cherokee wheels and tires
2011-2014

All wheels: Backspacing = ?? Offset = 56.4mm Bolt pattern = 5x5 (5x127mm)

Lugnuts: 1/2" x 20 Torque: 100 ± 15 ft. lbs.
Backspacing, I read, can be calculated with the rim width and the Offset. Although, I have read some contradictory calculations. Maybe the rim width was rounded to 1/2 inches and the Backspacing was not. In which case it would be more accurate to calculate rim width from backspacing and offset???
I'm getting confused.

I did just read the SRT has 20x10 rims; so, there definitely should be a problem sticking out another inch or so...
