Re: The official Wheel thread

Stock offset is +56.4mm
56.4mm-35mm moves the wheel out 21.4mm + 6.35mm (1/4") for the 1/2"wider rim = 27.75mm further outboard or 1 5/64".

Take note that the lug nuts "are not 1/2"x 20" as stated on the WK2 website. So if you are getting new lug nuts for the new wheels you will need 14mm lug nuts.

OK, I understand what's going on. The rims I ordered are 18x8 not 18x8.5.
When I said I ordered the same in 18' I didn't notice they were the 8.5s

My mistake.

Edit: So one more calculation to make sure I understand the whole thing.

Backspacing should be 1/2 the rim width + or - the offset.

So My Backspacing with the Artillery should be 5.378 inches(5 3/8 inches), correct?

Backspacing, I read, can be calculated with the rim width and the Offset. Although, I have read some contradictory calculations. Maybe the rim width was rounded to 1/2 inches and the Backspacing was not. In which case it would be more accurate to calculate rim width from backspacing and offset???
I'm getting confused.

I did just read the SRT has 20x10 rims; so, there definitely should be a problem sticking out another inch or so...
Just use this: Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com

Takes all the guesswork out. Note the "clearance" area at the bottom, that tells you how much closer it is to suspension parts and how much farther it will stick out than stock. Awesome tool.

If the new rims are 18x8 w/ 35 offset, then you'll only stick out .8" (21mm) farther than normal. Will just widen the stance a touch.

The wheels will stick out +.827" (21.4mm) further than stock. 18x8 +35 Backspacing = 5.88" and is given in the wheel specs.
Back spacing is measured to the outside edge of the rim. Rim width is measure between the bead mounting surfaces. An 8" rim is 8.5" outside edge to outside edge.

Re: The official Wheel thread

OK, Going down to get the bag of lug nuts, I know the lock ones have the dimensions at least. CarID did choose these by the way knowing I had a 2014 JGC. BRB
....................
OK I'm back. They are all 14mm x 1.5. I guess CarID got me the right ones.

Re: The official Wheel thread

OK I actually measured the rim.

It is more correct to say(to replace the equation I showed earlier): You can get the true rim width by taking the Backspacing subtracting the offset then multiply by 2. In This case that is (5.88 - 1.38) x 2 = 9.00 inches, which, when measured the 18x8 actually has a 9 inch overall width. Most of the places, including the manufacturer, did not show the backspacing. However, SFX Performance did show all the correct specs. In the absence of backspacing specs it doesn't seem one can determine, accurately, the backspacing except by measuring the rim itself and also no one shows the actual rim width. I also measured the distance from where the tire sits to the outside, it is .5 inch on each side. When reducing the Offset from the OEM you are reducing the back spacing assuming the Rim width is the same. That is, the wheel is further out away from anything it could rub on, on the backside of the rim. Also since the SRT rims are 20x10s and the offset is the same for all, one would assume, as long as all the other parts were the same size, there is lots of extra room all the way around. The inside where the brake calipers are will be the area I will investigate the closest as we are putting the unmounted rim on the hub to test.

I have received quite a bit of education, thank you.

P.S. I think the rims are going to look awesome on the Jeep. I can't wait to go to "D1".

Awesome photos, they give me a good idea how those tires will look on mine; those mud flaps, are they standard or are they after market. If after market are they mopar or other?

Edit: One more thing, did you use the Original TPMS sensors or buy new ones?

Your wheels will stick out only 3mm more than mine (+38). You are correct about the wheel width being 9". It's been a few months since I measured and installed my wheels and tires.

I highly recommend having the sensors and tires installed by a tires only store like Discount Tires that really know their business. Sears did mine and it was nightmare that Discount had to fix! You would think that with TPMS sensors being around for 10yrs Sears would have the proper tools to install them and know where to install stick on weights on chrome wheels and how to properly mount and balance tires but NO!!!

I bought new TPMS sensors @ www.tiresensorwarehouse.com for $79.80 set of 4. Part# 56029398AB. Same part# as Chrysler uses. The sensors linked up almost immediately after installing the new tires and wheels on my JGC. No activation of the sensors was needed.

The mud flaps are stock Mopar bought off of Amazon for around $65. The rear flaps have the raised JEEP lettering all black. I did trim the front flaps up 1.25" as I thought they hung a little too low.

What tires are you planning to put on? I'm very happy with the Coopers. They are as quiet as stock tires! I run them @ 36PSI cold and they run 38-39 PSI when driving. . Haven't noticed any decline in MPG.
