tire experts, need advice

Recently got some sidewall damage on one of my tires, but there's no leak or anything. The safe thing to do would be to replace the tire, but do you think the damage is bad enough? Could I use this, then, as the spare?

I would for a spare, not for a long period of driving.

Re: tire experts, need advice

found the same thing on one of my tiers back in dec. and it was on my mind all the time. so before i took a trip that was over 3 hours i had a used one that matched my tiers swapped in. when i looked at teh tier it was paper thin and not worth taking the chances to reuse it. i used the tier till feb but did not go far.

if you need a match set of tiers in brand and tread check ebay and local tier shops. i got lucky and one shop had one tire at a the tight tread and same brand.

Re: tire experts, need advice

I went to two different tire shops and they both said it's only cosmetic. So, I won't be replacing it.

Re: tire experts, need advice

I have something similar like that on my WK's tire. I wouldn't worry about it.
