Tire help for 20" Altitude rims

Hello everyone. Looking for opinion on tires. I have an Altitude with 265/50/20. I have been looking and there is not a wide selection of tires available. I have it narrowed down to :

Falken Ziex S?TZ04
http://www.falkentire.com/Tires/Ziex-S-TZ04-6

And Nitto Terra grapplers AT
http://www.nittotire.com/Tire/terragrappler#size

Are there any other tires I should consider in 265/50/20? We have winters here, so must be all season. Also, Can I step it up to a 275/50/20 with rubbing?

Re: Tire help for 20" Altitude rims

You might want to look at the Toyo Open Country AT's. Pretty much the same tread pattern as the Nittos, but the sidewalls look a little different. They are both made by the same parent company.

I had the Toyo's on my Montero and loved them in the New England snow, so as soon as I got the Grand Cherokee, I switched to the Toyo's.

Re: Tire help for 20" Altitude rims

I knew about the Toyo's 67rally, only problem is they don't make them in 265/50/20. Closest is 275/55/20 and I don't know if they will fit.

Oops, sorry about that. I didn't realize that they only made the Open Country AT's in the 275/55/20. That size should fit, but I would wait for someone else to confirm it for sure.

When I googled the size originally, I didn't realize that the 265/50/20 Open Country was an H/T instead of an A/T. I'm not a big fan of the HT tread pattern.

Re: Tire help for 20" Altitude rims

Between the 2 listed, Nittos -- hands down. I wouldn't even consider the Falkens if winter traction is a concern.

What's the BS or Offset on the Altitude wheels. If its the same as the stock 20x8's then they should fit. There are 2 or 3 recent threads where people are running 275/55/20's.

275/55/20's Fit and don't rub at all with the Overland 20's. I have a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo's that ride and look great. They have an aggressive wide stance in my opinion and look nice with the Outlined White Letters Out.

I had the pirelli's on my Cherokee years ago. Awesome traction in the snow, but mpg went down a bit & I only got about 25,000 useful miles out of them. I was disappointed in how quickly they wore but everything else was good.

I replaced them with kumho solus'. Mpg went up beyond the stock goodyears (and way better than the pirelli's) and they improved the ride, but were a little like driving on roller skates in the snow. No free lunches, I guess..
