Re: Tire Pressure Gauge

I have had several gauges from cheap to expensive and everything in between very inconsistent regardless of cost. a year or two back I compared a few of them at a shop that had a professional style gauge that had been recently calibrated. This one I found to be the most accurate of all of them. When I bought the jeep I tried it and it matched the evic exactly, not close but right on. a cheapy but if its accurate its accurate im not arguing.

Re: Tire Pressure Gauge

Well I don't need a flash light or a back- lit display. I would probably never check my pressure at night. So I think the price is high because of these options. Will have to check Sears and see if they have a similar one without the options.

Just keep watching SlickDeals. This is the same one that goes on sale at Sears (Order on line pick up at store) for $10, quite often.

Or, there's always this from Harbor Freight;

Re: Tire Pressure Gauge

Consumer Reports (Not always my favorite either, but good quantitative info.) rated two Accutire guages top in accuracy.

Re: Tire Pressure Gauge

I got this one and I love it. Locks on and doesn't release any air with or wo a hose connected.

Re: Tire Pressure Gauge

Anyone tried the pen style gauge included in the tool bag that came with the Jeep? is it any good?

I have a Bushranger air compressor (Auto Max), it works really good on inflating the tires fast but the inline gauge that comes with it is off by more than 5 PSI so I rely on the EVIC when deflating or inflating.

Re: Tire Pressure Gauge

Sherif it's not possible to have an inline gauge on a compressor that is accurate while actively inflating or deflating. That said, I agree that the Bushranger gauges are often a bit off the mark even when only measuring.

My tip, for what it's worth, is to use the built in gauge as a guide only. Use it to slightly overinflate the tyre you're pumping up... move the compressor to the next tyre... then go back with your Accutire, Currie or whatever and adjust the pressure down to your spec.

There's no point being really accurate with a portable compressor anyway. The air comes out stinking hot and the next morning your pressures will be all over the joint again. This is the time to do the accurate adjustment...

Cheers,
Steve
