Re: tire pressure monitoring system 2014 Summit

Funny enough, I bought these off of Ebay:

Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor

and 3 of them worked right off the bat, one gave me issues. So I figured I'd get a "real" one to fix that.

I got this one from amazon:

Amazon TPMS

It came in a mopar bag and everything, and this one doesn't work either??

I went to the dealer, to see if they maybe needed to do anything, as the guys at discount tire were saying that it scanned as being OK.

The service guy took my car, came back after 10 minutes and said, that it's probably because my tires, LT 275/65R18 Duratracs, were set too high, at 42 PSI, so the system malfunctions because of that. So he did me the service of deflating my tires to the "proper" 36 PSI, haha!

Thanks, I guess??

So, I'm now back to square one, with two different new sensors, and the original 56029398AB not working...

And yes, the TPMS did work with the OEM 20's that I have since sold.

I guess the one option I have is going to the dealer, buying a $$ensor at OEM price and having them install it, to see if the receiver is maybe broken.

Re: tire pressure monitoring system 2014 Summit

Thanks for the information! Its is very frustrating when you get different answers from different Tire dealers and where I bought the vehicle. No one seems to know the difference between the two part numbers, 56029398AB and 68241067AB and if they are compatible. The dealer Parts Department told me they didn't show the part #56029398AB but yet several members have had success using this part.

On my other vehicle, not a Jeep, I had bought new tires about a year ago and went with a larger LT tire. They are the exact size you have LT 275/65R-18 and the tire installer put 35lbs of air according to door tag. They told me anymore air and I might have trouble with the sensors. When I got home I aired up to 45lbs in each tire. I haven't had any trouble out of my tire sensors with the extra air and they read accurately.

I'm no expert but maybe the trouble some people have is not with the sensors but on the receiving end. Anyway I'm about to find out with this extra set of wheels I'm adding winter tires to.

Thanks again for your reply!

Guess what? After this post, on my drive home from work, the tpms light went out and the mopar sensor started working... After a good 100+ miles since the install...

Guess it didn't want a bad online reputation :P
