Tire size and ground clearance

With my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X, the tires are rated at 18 inches. Does this increase the ground clearance from 8.6 inches to 9.6 inches compared to the 17 inches wheels?

Re: Tire size and ground clearance

??? What do you mean your tires are rated at 18 inches?

Maybe I can clear this up for you. The tires that came on your jeep are 30.5 inches tall. This is the same as all the different wheel tire set ups that come on the vehicle. More rim less tire, less rim more tire. Same overall Diameter. All the same "ground clearance".

Re: Tire size and ground clearance

Yes it's the tire diameter that you want to look at, not the wheel diameter. I think all the wk2 oem tires are the same diameter. Other cars are different.
