Hey all. So I've never purchased tires for a car before. I've always driven my stock tires. Getting close to purchasing a set of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus tires for my '15 Altitude. I live in Chicago. My question would be, is it worth it? I have my stock Fortera HL tires that are brand new obviously (would like to sell them). So if I'm going to spend the $$ on brand new tires I would like to know how much of a difference I would feel in handling/comfort/traction/etc. I drive almost 20k miles per year so I have always wanted to see what it's like to drive on a really nice tire.

Also, road hazard protection certificate from discount tire, worth it?

Greetings,

Since you live in a snow/ice belt region, my suggestion is to go with an all weather tire. For example, if have no reason for an AT type tire, then look into the Nokian WRG3 SUV. Their are many reviews here that be searched and commentary. Besides Nokian, you will find a bunch of tires that many here will swear by. Nitto comes up a lot, Cooper, Michelin and GY are just a few that have premium tires.

Either way, buy September the forum will pickup on winter tires and other all weather tires.

Best for now.:)

I have 24000 miles on my Forteras and made it through an epic winter that had 7ft of snow in a few days. Thats a pretty good testament on how they perform. Saying that, I may look into a different tire when its time to replace them. I have plenty of time to decide on that.
