TPMS and wheel question

Have the 20" overland rims and a guy wants to trade his 18" rims.
I'm guessing the 20's cost more but I just like the look better
If we swap, will the air sensors auto program or would I need a tire shop to set that up?
Also any issues with brakes rubbing?
Thanks.

Overland has optional 18" wheels, so no problem with fitment. Tpms sensors are tied to each position, so they have to be reprogrammed after install. Dealer can do it for sure, some tire shops might be able to do it too.

Re: TPMS and wheel question

Umm...AFAIK, the TPMS will "just work" after a few minutes being mounted on the vehicle. No reprogramming that I'm aware of.

TPMS and wheel question

Thanks guys, when I rotate tires the sensors are ok. I just wasn't sure if there was a digital tie with all the electronics these things have of they were to go to another wk2

I just checked the owners manual, and couldn't find any info confirming my previous statement about reprogramming. I think someone once told me they had to be reprogrammed after a rotation to set the new position. Perhaps that is incorrect.

Re: TPMS and wheel question

I have a 2012 with 20's. Now have used 2012 18's takeoffs with original tpms for winter. The car's computer reprograms each automatically within a few minutes driving (turn car on off then on and then drive). I assume the tpms are the same type in 2015.

Re: TPMS and wheel question

Well, swapped the rims today, tpms worked like a champ. Goofy part is my good years with 12k on the clock have just as much tread as a new Michelin from the 2016s
