TPMS in spare?

I know it's not required, but is it OK to put a tpms in the spare? I picked up a steel 18 " wheel and found an almost new michelin ltx a/s tire 255/70-18 at the tire shop I use. I have an extra tpms and may as well put it in as long as it won't cause any problems.

It is not a problem to have a spare tire with the TPMS sensor. I have a TPMS sensor in my spare. It is not known to the active system.

I have yet to put on the spare to see what happens, but my local service manager says that the system will automatically figure out that a sensor is gone and a new sensor is in its place.

Re: TPMS in spare?

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure it would not cause any interference with the system.
