This is my first truck with those TPMS sensors and since I'm going to be shopping for new tires soon wonder if those sensors need to be serviced as well. How long do they last? Should I just wait until they die and then do something? I think they have some kind of battery, right? Can it be replaced?

What is recommendation? What are you doing?

I recently replaced the Latitudes on my 2014 and just left the existing sensors in place and they are working well. The sensor batteries tend to last between 7 and 10 years. If you start getting errors or the readings are way off, you might want to replace them. On my old 2004 Tahoe, they just stopped sending data.

I would not replace unless they are not working properly. The tire installer just needs to be sure that they reinstall them properly, including seals.
