Trading Wheels

I am just curious and want to learn.
There are a couple of threads that want to trade wheels IE: different diameter. How is the accuracy of the speedometer changed to read correctly? Is it just a matter of another visit to the dealer for a reprogram?
Mind you I am not looking to do this I am just wondering...

i too am interested. i have seen posts about people getting 265/65/18 bfg at's, same wheel, but a bit bigger than the stock 265/60/18....i believe that means the speed will be 3.4% too slow. i wonder how easy it is to recalibrate the speedo and odometer...

The dealer is able to adjust the speedo for up to 2" of tire diameter change. Anything bigger will need an aftermarket tuner.

I went from stock 29" tires to 32" tires and my speedo is 5mph slow.
