Re: Transfer case fluid change
Well, despite all my intentions to get the fluids changed earlier in the week, the weather didn't co-operate. Having to drive around a little, to warm up the fluids, prior to draining, is no big deal. However, when it's pouring rain, crawling under a dripping car is no fun, especially when the fluid change isn't required on any particular day.
Today, while not especially warm, it was dry, so the t/c and diffs got fresh fluid today. What I find slightly confusing, and very frustraing, is that oil is sold in QUARTS, yet the fluid capacities in the t/c and diffs are given in PINTS......
Anyway, after draining the diffs, I found that the front diff took a little less than specified, and the rear took noticeably more.....??? Yes, my garage floor is on a slight slant, for water drainage, like most garages are, but I highly doubt that it would affect the capacity that much. Nonetheless, the fluids are fresh, and a test drive produced NO weird noises....
Good for another few years!
