Looks like you have found the maximum size that fits inside. Hopefully no scraping in turns. A good find for everybody.

Re: Tried some Toyo AT2 285x60r18, is this safe?

Go a bit carefully when you first drive deflated off road. I've noticed that tyres will skew slightly at the top in the direction opposite to sideways forces at the contact patch... especially with "hard carcass" tyres. Its might just take up the small amount of clearance you have. Unlikely to cause drama, but might knock the shoulder blocks around if there's regular solid contact. I'd be interested to know if it happens, as I noticed it on my rears against the guard liners when heavily deflated and playing a bit.

Looks great though.
Definitely up for a fight.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Tried some Toyo AT2 285x60r18, is this safe?

I think Im gonna go with the 275x65r18 which is a little bit narrower but a bit taller also, it has about 1/2" of clearance to the bolt. this tire size is also about 4 lbs lighter.

Left Tire = 275x65r18, Right tire 285x60r18

Well nonstop. The poster was asking a question and looks ng for possible options. I feel that I have him an acceptable option. Quality spacers would take him away from the bolt thus saving the tire. You didn't offer him anything. Your suggestion would be???

Are spacers the devil, no, but are they less safe, yes even when of high quality. There's now multiple points of failure that didn't exist prior, hence the odds increase, Fact. Phrase the question, "cheap fix" and the answer is appropriate. Ask for the "best or safest" and it's always wrong. There will always be two sides to this and anyone ignoring physics will always be wrong, but I always forget how much science shit people know better than the sciences people.
You got kids or a someone you like, a nice set of wheels is a few hundred more.

Re: Tried some Toyo AT2 285x60r18, is this safe?

Yes Hutch is correct, wheel spacers are illegal in all states of Australia and have been since Jesus was a boy. Here, a road wheel must bolt directly to the hub face.

We have an emerging problem here with cheaply made replica wheels failing under "relatively normal conditions". If necessary, I'd prefer to use a suitable offset rather than spacers. However I'd be far happier with quality wheels and quality spacers between me and the road than some bling wheels made from garbage at the shit factory.

Cheers,
Steve

Thank you for the point made twice, don't do it the wrong or cheap way. I agree completely.

Actually it was an expansion of considerations... but if you'd like to claim your post as the final word you're more than welcome.

Cheers,
Steve

You are apparently more accustomed to games than approval, I hope as you grow you shed this trait. Technically your comment would've ended it. I know there's a better way to do something than the easy way, but what do I know
