Tried some Toyo AT2 285x60r18, is this safe?

Well I decided to mount some Toyo AT2 in 285x60r18, they have a very square thread design giving the tire a very wide an aggressive look.

The tire is very close to the bolt, do you guys think its safe? it doesn't seem to rub anywhere else...

The tire is so close to the bolt that I cannot fit even my pinky finger between the space. There is maybe 1/8" to 2/8" of space between the tire and bolt.

Is it safe to run it like that? I tested the tire on both front sides

If it doesn't touch it would be safe but u would need to flex it bit do some lock to lock under compression maybe to really know. My 275's I can get my finger in the gap.

Actually your answer is the universal ignorant answer.
Nothing wrong with quality spacers installed and maintained properly

Am I the only one that has noticed the HUGE crack in that piece of steel????? I would be more concerned about that than tire clearance.

I genuinely thought it was a crack for a minute...it's just the edge creating the shadow. derp.

Re: Tried some Toyo AT2 285x60r18, is this safe?

It'll be fine. The tire flexing at the bottom where it contacts the road will have zero effect on the spot near the bolt.

I loved those tires on my WJ
