not yet 13k on my 2013 Jeep GC THawk with Qlift, QDrive ll and ORA ll, the rear shocks began leaking severly on both sides in the rear. SO, in reference to the below TSB recommendation of replacement, my dealer claims the newest version of this shock is on nationwide backorder with no anticipated date of delivery to dealerships. on top of that fact, while the older and prematurely leaking/failing versions can be had....no independent retailer wants to touch them. so, with both my rear shocks leaking profusely and in the way considered "MAJOR" according to the below TSB, i have no recourse but to drive on failing or failed rear shocks. the dealer did not validate concerns of Quadra Lift air suspension damage from riding around on failed shocks. my brother offered to give it a go if i can get my hands on the older shock model.

am reaching out to you all for ideas on what you'd do in this scenario, which many of you may find yourselves in. as much as i love the air suspension and use it helping granny's exit the Jeep, lowering for off loading the kayaks and raising for deep snow and the like, am honestly considering trading the Jeep for an Wrangler Unlimited Sahara that has a decent Carfax record of regular O-changes and dealer service.

all suggestions welcome.

anyone else having this issue yet. am shocked (pun intended). 2011-2016 WK2 with QL owners will have this issue as these are failing shocks b/c of the Quadra Lift design. no independent mechanics want to touch this system and dealers have shocks on nationwide backorder. i cannot be the only WK2 owner whose shocks have hemorrhaged all their oil prematurely. this is not a recall, yet, but it should be. i have 13k on my 2013 (commute to work by bike most days) and the shocks are failing and the dealer cannot repair them and have claimed there will not be any damage to my current Quadra Lift driving on failed rear chocks. only option i have is purchase of the same failing shock model, after market, for them to install (and await premature failure in 3 years). no one??

I just went through this with my 2014 summit that has quadra lift about a month ago. standard (not air suspension portion) shock leaking a lot on the right rear. They replaced under warranty part number 68069675AD there doesnt appear to be any 68069675AE versions listed out so i assume the AD version is the revised one?? Even though shocks are usually replaced in sets dealer would not warranty the otherside as it was not leaking yet (no doubt it would have soon) i ordered the 2nd shock and had it shipped to me and installed on my own. 68069675AD was in stock at dealer and the place i ordered.

to complicate it a bit the manufacturer part numbers stamped on the shock and the actual chysler part number (68069675AD) are different.

can you take a picture of the part numbers on your failing shock and post on here so i can check it against what mine say?

parts dept. manager gave me #68069675-AD. service guy who dealt with my recalls said they didn't have any shocks to fit my 2013 (b/c they are on nationwide backorder), also noting the letters at the end of the part number reference the most recent version. when i searched, the part numbers also seem to reference whether it fits Quadra lift and load leveling, which i didn't think my Jeep had since i don't have tow package. he said their guys would throw the old model shocks on for me but didn't recommended it since they too would fail. he thought i should wait for the backordered and re-engineered shock to become available. waiting will most likely damage rods and bushings, despite that the service guy said it would not damage anything.

i can crawl under the later and snap a pic of the model # for us. but...how hard was it to install yourself? my brother offered to do it for $100 per wheel with our jacks and stands. should i just take him up on it? was it like any ordinary shock swap? disable the QL, jack the car, and get to removal of bolts? how long did it take you? any specialty tools we'd need? what about the air/nitrogen line?

sorry for all the questions, i just would love to avoid having the dealer muck with it if we can get er done ourselves.

You mean they would put on something like the AC version instead of the AD version? Probably better to locate the AD version if you can. I ordered AD on line and had a shop install it not the dealer, I did not do myself. the 68069675-AD shocks are about $77 each and you should be able to order at various places online. Its really not that hard of an install should not be more than a half hour each.

i can't find these shocks now. no one has them online either. Amazon has 1. This place has 1 - https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/catalog.php?ckout=1&isajax=yes
A local dealer had them a week ago for $200/pair.

But the Mopar site that i ordered from today after chatting to their customer service rep for 15 minutes about fitment and shipping (TX to VA) emailed after the payment went through to say the part is on backorder. just like my dealer said. and who knows how long this part will last. original shocks only made it 13k miles in less than 4 years. grrr. feeling quite frustrated.

Thx for the link. I worry about warranty fulfillment purchasing from Ebay. This shock has a year warranty and the given dealer service advised against paying $330 to install them saying we'd be having this same conversation a year from now. yet riding around on failed shock is going to cause all kinds of issues. i am still hoping to get these from a local dodge dealer but if they were such a good part, why did Mopar and Chrysler discontinue them? If they can't last up to the warranty as the dealer eluded to, then we'll be right back in this position a year from now. how is this not a recall.
