Re: What tires really fit?

The liner can be trimmed or pulled back. The sheetmetal behind it is 1/4-3/8 away, so a 32" tire could work. 30-35mm offset would work easily I think.

Re: What tires really fit?

KMC Monster (black), and Thump, come in 18x9 +35 on 5x5. Good place to check out those specs is wheelpros.com. I had not seen them before, but just found them today.

Steering feel, and weight is only slightly heavier than stock with the +25 wheels. I did check on the price of wheel bearings/hubs on trademotion and got a pleasant surprise, only around $60. The nitto's ride and handle great, are only slightly louder than stock, surprising for the aggressive tread. Much more livable than the trail grapplers I had on my old truck.

Re: What tires really fit?

Good information, webspoke! The tire height looks just right to me. I hope you have sufficient clearance for the rough stuff. Keep us posted on your impressions.

I was curious to see how your project turned out, as I'm planning to use Discount Tire's MB Gunner 5 wheel (18"X8.5",+25 offset) with 265/65/18 tires, which are the same 31.5" diameter as yours but about .8" less section width. They should be slightly more flush with the fenders and , hopefully, avoid any clearance issues.

Since your spare tire compartment lid won't fully close with these tires, if you want to carry a spare with the same diameter, the 265 tire should also fit without a problem.

Re: What tires really fit?

The Gunner wheel with 265's should fit and look great. I've put a few hundred miles on this combo on the road, and no rubbing issues so far. One thing be sure to have your shop order the hub centric rings for the wheels to bring the hub bore down to 71.5mm for the JGC. It's a common size, so they should be available. I've gotten a pretty good balance without them, but am waiting for them to be shipped in to smooth out the last couple of %.

Re: What tires really fit?

Thanks to everyone's input, I've upsized my JGC tires. I went with 275/65r18 on original rims. I had a preference for the terra grapplers or the destinations a/t. But after discussing with the guys at the tire shop, I went with Fuzions Xti. Thread patterns does look less aggressive compared to the nittos. Good reviews over the internet also for them. Will see how they handle. No rubbing. This is with no QL suspension.

Changed also the size of my spare tire to keep the same diameter of 32". I wanted the spare tire's lid to fully close. 255/70 do fit, but it lifts the lid on one side only at about 1/8" or less after it's fully closed. However, when the tire was completely deflated, it fit no problems. At 275, it didn't close.

Now, I waiting for other lift kits to come out...

Thanks,

Re: What tires really fit?

Thanks for the spare info!

Now I may consider keeping my 255/70/18 as a spare and not do the 5 wheel rotation and then get the 275/65/18 when the time comes for new rubber.
