Wheel advice - SRT Goliaths

I have a set of Red Vapor Goliaths on my '14 Limited and love them, but being in New England, am not sure how well the PVD chrome finish will hold up in the salt this winter. (I really don't want to put the stock 18s back on)

Would powder coating (dark gray) over the PVD make the finish more durable?

Is the PVD durable enough to avoid salt damage with regular washing?

Lastly, if I were to ditch the Goliaths altogether, are there any recommendations for an all-season, semi-aggressive wheel that would be used for light trail and beach use? I'm open to suggestions, am just not sure where to look, as there are so many wheels out there.

Thanks

Plasti-dip them for the winter, then peel it off in the spring.

Re: Wheel advice - SRT Goliaths

Painting a set of awesome black chrome goliaths is just wrong!! Don't cover up that amazing finish!!! I do t know for sure, but I thought I read that pvd chrome finishes are good at withstanding all conditions. Just put a coat of wax on them before winter and I'm sure you'll be good. If that still worries you then do what they said above and plasti-dip them for the winter.

Re: Wheel advice - SRT Goliaths

PVD is supposed to be a very strong coating if it's the real thing.

Re: Wheel advice - SRT Goliaths

I know this looks ugly but I've put Vaseline over my chrome rims for the winter ..I live in New England as well

Lay it on nice and thick ..the cold hardens it and it will stick on there all winter

Comes right off with hot water in the spring

Re: Wheel advice - SRT Goliaths

Interesting thoughts. I'm in the rust belt here and would love to make sure my car is as protected as possible. I Krowned the underside and am planning some plastidiping of the door sills. For the exterior, I'm still drawing a blank on what to do.

However, I hadn't thought of the wheels at all. Have people had any issues when not protecting the wheels?
