Wheel/Tire question..

Do 20" wheels make the ride noticeably rougher in Wk2? I am coming from a KJ so I am used to rough rides and added benefit of control and stability of tough suspension, so it wouldn't be necessarily a bad thing. However, one of the reasons I am considering a WK2 is the comfort and smoothness.

What is the biggest tires you can get on WK2 without rubbing? There seem to be a lot of room, especially in the front. All we see is the ugly wheel well, making the jeep look dirty. I wouldn't mind covering it up a bit. Since there are few different wheel choices, I also wonder if one makes it look better against the other. 17, 18, 20...

First, the 20" Forteras are very smooth and quiet.
Whether you go 17", 18", or 20", they all need to have the same diameter so as not to change the speedometer readings and therefore the amount of wheel well showing will be the same. The only way to fix that is to lower the vehicle and that also means giving up Quadra-Lift and going with a fixed suspension. That will also give a stiffer ride unfortunately.

I have owned both now a Limited with the 18 inch wheels and now the Overland with 20 inch wheels. The ride is stiffer in the Overland I think mainly because of the 20 inch wheels. There are some other variables one is the 20 require higher tire pressure 36 vs 33 with the 18's and this one has the air suspension not sure how this factors.

Not only size but type of tires will make a difference. Although I have 20" Forteras (36psi), I had 18" Blizzaks (33psi) for the winter and the ride was noticably harder with the 18" winter tires.

I have a Laredo that came with the 18" rims and put the 20' rims on mine and only noticed a slight difference between the two rims with ride quality with 20' rims being just a little more on the rougher side but not much. I did put General Exclaim UHP on my 20' rims thou, which I will have to say I love those tires!

I've got 20's on my Overland. Would love to go with a wider/fatter tire. Curious about sizes?

Thanks everyone. What is the biggest tire we can get with 18 or 20" rims?
For example on my KJ, 17" rims, I can get 235/65/17, or I can go up to 245/65/17 with no rubbing, but that will be the max I can get. Although going from 235 to 245 does not make the tire any bigger, it is just wider. When changed my crappy goodyear wrangler HP tires and went with Nokian Vatiivas, they were slightly bigger and wider. The ride was so much better, like I was driving on powdery snow all the time. Even though I had much deeper treads, it was not noisier, and it was a lot softer.

I really like the look of 20"s, but that won't be a good choice for driving in snow or rough roads (no off-road). Also potential curb rash.
