Seems like a nice area. Time to install a security camera in the front! They are not that expensive anymore.

Re: Wheels STOLEN!! Need advice.

Don't know the part# off hand but Gorilla has a lock system where ALL 20 lugs require a key instead of 1 per wheel.

I have heard this is common. Thieves come back in a few months to steal what they assume has been replaced: wheels, television from your house, etc.

Re: Wheels STOLEN!! Need advice.

Search ebay for gorilla spline locking lug nuts. I think the correct part number is 21188HT

Yup. That's why God made pitbulls, dobermans, and man created Smith&Wesson.

Re: Wheels STOLEN!! Need advice.

Dude, that sucks.

Question, though....what do you put in the garage if not the two cars in the driveway? I can't imagine not garaging my Jeep and motorcycle. The guy across the street leaves his bike out uncovered.

I do agree with the other suggestions of getting a security camera or two. A 4 camera with DVR setup runs for under $250 for SD and under $500 for HD. Most will allow you to view them on your smart phone.

You'd save that amount on your deductible when making a claim. If you're going to leave it in the driveway, it's better insurance than insurance.

I have a couple cameras and a DVR and have yet to have someone mess with my stuff, while some neighbors have had vandalism or minor things stolen from outside their houses.

It doesn't matter how nice the neighborhood, someone will always want what you've got.

Personally, I disagree.

The McGuard units with the funky squiggely lock are probably easy to strip (and the fact that it sticks out past the wheel).
I bought the Gorilla locks (in black) where the lock socket goes over the entire locking lug AND they are recessed behind the face of the wheel. Would be pretty damn hard to strip that unless you didn't take the time to fully seat the lock on the lug.

Yes, professional thieves have the 'one size fits all' type socket (as do most dealerships), but then again the professionals are probably just going to take the entire vehicle instead of the wheels/tires.

I personally went to the Gorilla 20 piece locks after putting the new Goodyear Adventures on my Jeep. Spendy tires demand some protection and I think that will be enough to discourage the 'amatuers' out there.

Re: Wheels STOLEN!! Need advice.

If you have the V6, there's a ton of space under the hood for a second battery. Then you just wire everything up to zap anyone that screws with your wheels.

By the time the guy wakes up in your flower bed, the cops will have arrived.
