Unfortunately this happened to me last night...

Called my insurance company. They are taking care of me. Dude is coming from tow company to put on some temporary rims and tires. He's going to tow Jeep to dealership where they will give me a loaner car. GEICO lady said that they will pay for whatever I want, as long as it's not more $ than what the dealer would charge for stock stuff. I had the stock Altitude 20" rims with brand new Nitto Terra Grappler G2's 275/60/R20. Which rims should I go with? Any suggestions?? It has the 1" BORA wheel spacers as well, and the rocky road leveling kit.

Stolen stuff sucks for sure, sorry to hear that man. If you are replacing back to the stock rims it could very well go over 5k and at that price is considered grand theft. The neighborhood you are parked in looks to be a nice area, ask your neighbors if there might be any security cameras that caught activity. Might get lucky. Did the police come out? When the insurance company finds out how much the factory rims and tires cost they will involve the police if it is over 5k.

WTF!!! Those damn bastages!!

Didn't your Jeep come with wheel locks? Mine did... they look ugly but I still keep them on.

When you get your wheels, get some wheel locks as well. Glad your insurance is taking care of this.

Sorry this happened to you... :(

Have to disagree. Never saw the value in lock lugs as everyone (esp bad guy) have the key. Doesn't even stop the amateurs IMHO. Plus these darn things are quite easy to strip the key out yourself.

That SUCKS dude! Get some Gorilla wheel locks NOW as they WILL be back to steal your new rims! Guaranteed! ;)

I know the feeling... same thing happened to me years ago right on my driveway with my Maxima. They jacked my rims and left my car on a spare tire and two large rocks from the side of my house. Really sucked!

I would look into the new style Altitude rims, Black Gorilla lock kit (#96643BDX) and get the same Nitto tires again.

Dude, that sucks.

Question, though....what do you put in the garage if not the two cars in the driveway? I can't imagine not garaging my Jeep and motorcycle. The guy across the street leaves his bike out uncovered.

I do agree with the other suggestions of getting a security camera or two. A 4 camera with DVR setup runs for under $250 for SD and under $500 for HD. Most will allow you to view them on your smart phone.

You'd save that amount on your deductible when making a claim. If you're going to leave it in the driveway, it's better insurance than insurance.

I have a couple cameras and a DVR and have yet to have someone mess with my stuff, while some neighbors have had vandalism or minor things stolen from outside their houses.

It doesn't matter how nice the neighborhood, someone will always want what you've got.

I usually do park in the garage. I have my trailer and motorcycle taking up one side and the Jeep usually goes on the other. The wife and I had gone out that night, and when we came home I didn't feel like letting her out, and then pulling the Jeep in, so I left it out. Big mistake apparently. There are a lot of events which could have changed the outcome. Usually my front bedroom is open with the dogs sleeping in there looking out the front window. We had the door closed, so the dogs couldn't see anything, and therefore didnt bark. sucks....

If you have the V6, there's a ton of space under the hood for a second battery. Then you just wire everything up to zap anyone that screws with your wheels.

By the time the guy wakes up in your flower bed, the cops will have arrived. ;)

Then you get sued.

I ordered the Gorilla locks to install on my new rims. I have the KMC XD Bomb 18x9s coming, with a set of Nitto Trail Grappler 285/75/18 as well. I cant wait. I do have a question though. My Jeep is at the dealership, and they wouldnt let me order the tires and rims myself. I had to let the dealership order them, FROM THE SAME WEBSITE I was going to, but they are charging me a 25% upcharge fee. Is this something that dealerships are able to get away with? I was upset about it, but realized theres not much I can do. So the rims/tires I was going to pay about $2000 for, are going to cost me $2500....I will still come out about even with the insurance check, but I still feel like theyre stealing from me. Never again will I ever take Jeep to dealership unless needed for recalls. I should have been a bit more thoughtful with where I told GEICO to tow my car too...but live and learn I suppose.

That's absolutely a load of junk and personally I'd contact my insurer about the practice, if I'm reading this correct I think they'd be concerned.. Also I'd double check that tire size that's an almost 35" tire, unless you're comfortable with a sawzall that's not gonna fit. Best of luck.

This really pisses me off. Guess people are too lazy to work for their own stuff :smh: I'm sure everyone has suggested this but get locking lug nuts! That was one of the first things i bought for my jeep. Good luck with the whole insurance thing, glad they're not screwing you.

Don't forget the Gorilla key lock uses a 13/16 socket and the Jeep, at least my 2014, came with 22mm lugs and lug wrench.

The 22mm wrench is too big and sloppy fit on the Gorilla key lock. I suppose it would work but if the stock wrench rounded out you'd be in trouble. I don't know if that is likely but I still prefer the correct size socket/lug wrench.

I keep a 1/2" breaker bar and 13/16 impact socket with my spare tire and key lock. If I can find an L shape lug wrench (to fit in stock foam holder) in 13/16 or even 21mm then that would be more convenient. But a breaker bar does give more leverage than that short L wrench too.

Holy shit, that sucks.

At least they set it on bricks so the car wasn't flat on the driveway.
How kind of them. Maybe they had to, to get their jack out.
