Re: Why little to no confirmed info on 2012 6sp auto?

Picking up my 2012 Overland V8 in a couple hours. I will report back later tonight on whether I see all 6 in the EVIC.

I'm really hoping you see all 6 gears displayed in EVIC otherwise it's a big let down for Chrysler.
My 2011 with the update has 1-2-3-4-5-D (All Six).

When you downshift from "D" you get an RPM increase and an indication of "5". This is exactly what I would expect to get from a six speed, basically 6=D.

Why would a six speed show a "6" after a downshift from drive, that would be seven gears.

My 2011 has all six gears available, indicated as 1,2,3,4,5,D with "2" and "3" being almost identical (1.67 versus 1.5).

Any way that you look like it, it has always been a six speed with two of the gears being very close together. I think that the only difference now is that updated 2011's, or 2012's now let you access all six gears when manually shifting on the way up or down. At any rate, it feels like a whole new transmission with the update, I don't think the problem was ever not having enough gears, just poor gear selection and slow response, and the TSB fixes both of those issues.

Interesting. Do you notice any difference performance wise after the update?

Good luck and congrats!

Can you also post back as to the availability of power fold mirrors? Curious if they made it to the US for 2012.

Re: Why little to no confirmed info on 2012 6sp auto?

Hi, new to the forum and working with a dealer to place an order on a 2012 Limited. I'm a long time Mopar guy, but it'll be my first Jeep ever, so looking forward it. Already learned quite a bit here about some things I had questions on, so appreciate everyone's knowledge and contributions.

Regarding seeing the "5" on the EVIC display after a downshift from "D," I think what you're feeling is the torque converter unlocking. My 2011 Ram (5-speed) does the same thing.

Looking forward to how things appear with the "new" 6-speed from owners here.

I believe you got the 4x4 version with a v8 but without the off road adventure II pkg. Can you confirm if your v-8 came with the ELSD? Jeep sent me an email indicating that while this was part of the V8's in 2011, in 2012, for the non summit overlands, you need to get the ORAII pgk to get ELSD. Just curious.

Congrats on your new car.

Re: Why little to no confirmed info on 2012 6sp auto?

So I requested a build sheet to Jeep to confirm build date -- door sticker indicates 5/11. Build date is 5/2/11 which means I don't need the TSB -- not that I have any of the symptoms anyway. A curious note is that they indicate gas tank as being 25 gallon rather than 24.6 gallon. Build sheet is below:

Just got back from the dealer. I can confirm it does show 1 through 6 on the EVIC (see attached picture).

Re: Why little to no confirmed info on 2012 6sp auto?

It is news to me that the 2012 Overland doesn't come with Quadra Drive 2 standard with the ELSD. That was one of the features why I ordered an Overland. I am now opening my options up to a 2011 Summit edition.
