Re: Why little to no confirmed info on 2012 6sp auto?

Not so for me.

So, I have the updated 5 speed transmission on my 5.7L and just took it out for a test to confirm your theories. At steady speed (60 km/hr), there was no change in RPM shifting between D to 5 to D. I tried it a few times and never was there a change in RPM.

So, for my vehicle, D and 5 are the same gear and only indicates a switch from auto to manual.

Re: Why little to no confirmed info on 2012 6sp auto?

60 kph may be too slow, my late build will have a noticeable change in rpm when taping the selector at 110 kph (70mph if I'm doing the conversion right)

Why would a six speed show a "6" after a downshift from drive, that would be seven gears.

My 2011 has all six gears available, indicated as 1,2,3,4,5,D with "2" and "3" being almost identical (1.67 versus 1.5).

Any way that you look like it, it has always been a six speed with two of the gears being very close together. I think that the only difference now is that updated 2011's, or 2012's now let you access all six gears when manually shifting on the way up or down. At any rate, it feels like a whole new transmission with the update, I don't think the problem was ever not having enough gears, just poor gear selection and slow response, and the TSB fixes both of those issues.
I can confirm this as well on my June 2011 build. As long as I am going over 62 mph and not uphill manually shifting from D to 5 gives a slight RPM increase.

It would be nice to hear from someone with an earlier build without update to comment on this RPM change.
