Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

I've got a 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Quadra Trac Air Suspension, with the Stock 20" Wheels / Offsets. Came with 265/50R20 Goodyear Fortenza's. Horrible tires. Shot with less than 30k on them. Want to increase the footprint and go with something a bit wider. I should mention I also have a dedicated set of winter tires and wheels for the vehicle, so these will be just for Spring/Summer/Fall, no ice, snow or off-road.

Tire Rack told me the widest I can go is a 275/50R 20. They said going with something a bit "taller" 275/55R 20 might rub. I also read on here somewhere that they're running 285/50R 20's with no issues.

Can anyone confirm the widest tire I can run with out ANY rubbing issues at the lowest Qudra Trac setting?

Lastly, suggestions for tires?

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

Widest on the stock wheels with no rubbing is 285/50/20.
Tire suggestions depends on what you're going to do with them.

Many people like the Nitto NT420S for street driving.
I like my Yokohama Parada's Spec-X.
A more rugged choice would be a Nitto Terra Grappler G2.

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

This is great info!! Thank you

So you're running the 285/50R 20 Yokohama's?

And in the lowest Quadra Trac Setting, no rubbing even on hard turns from stop to stop?

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

For what it's worth, figured I'd post where I'm at. Largest Size on the stock OEM 20" Overland Rims with Quadra Lift and guaranteed NO RUBBING on the lowest QL setting turning steering wheel stop to stop is 275 / 50R 20. Going with that.

Performance tires (I've got a separate dedicated 18" Winter Tire / Wheel set up with Bridgestone Blizzaks), leaning toward the Michelin Lattitude Sport.

A bit pricier than I wanted, but seems like this is the tire that keeps popping up as best for this application!!

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

I run 275/50 R20 on my 2011 without any problem at all assuming stock height.

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

I don't have airlift suspension. But I am assuming ride heights would be the same, but that's an assumption on my part.

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

The only difference might be with the quadra lift on the "lowest" setting, turning the steering wheel from stop to stop, however I've pretty much gotten confirmation that the 275 50's will work. Looks like I'm going with the Michelin Lattitude Sports!

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

I run cooper discoverer h/t 285/50R20 without any problems on my 2014 overland. The tech that did the install didn't think they would fit when the cooper was sitting next to the fortera's. Very happy with the more sunstantial look...

Re: Widest Tire for 2011 Overland

Here they are... very happy with the tire, rides well, is quiet at all speeds, and has a more aggressive look that the stock Fortera's. The Jeep actually looks like a 4x4 now!
