Hey guys,

Buddy of mine is selling his OEM 20inch Spider Monkeys off a 2014 (NOT 2012) SRT8 Jeep. I have a 15' JGC Altitude. I assume they should bolt on no problem, but I do have to drive an hour to get them, so before I go maybe someone has already tried and can tell me if they had any issues. He is also running 295/45/ZR20. Would love some insight from you guys!

I would buy the OEM wheel is in a SECOND if you can get them at the cost of the repros :)

The OEM wheels are much nicer and the black chrome finish looks amazing...if you ever want to sell them let me know

I have the actual SRT Brembo kit on my jeep ...I wanted them because they look cool and they also help greatly with braking power...I started with painted Stock calipers and that looked pretty good...but the look of the real Brembos is awesome. The Covers look OK....but I wouldn't buy them...just paint your stock calipers

I also go the Brembos to help slow down the jeep after I put the supercharger on

here's a couple pics of the stock ones painted vs the Brembos

If you do the brembo conversion you just need the calipers/rotors /pads

I opted to go with the metal brake lines but you can reuse the stock rubber ones

You'll need Srt compatable rims as well..these calipers are huge and will not work with any stock jeep wheels other than the Srt styles.

Awesome!!! I heard on other threads that I needed way more parts. Definitely I'm going with Velgen VMB5 22x10.5
Do u happen to have part numbers? I'm going to purchase strait through dealership.
Thanks for the Reply especially from someone whose done the conversion!!!

I'd buy the calipers from just for jeeps as they have them cheaper

I have a set of rear calipers/pins/pads that were taken off a new Srt if you're interested

I bought them as a spare set because I was going to have them custom powder coated

These are what you want for the fronts

I went with the hawk sector 27 pads and rotors

Pm me if you need any help or want info on the rear calipers I have

Hi Ajag, do you have the hyper silver Spider Monkeys Mounted and if so do you have a picture? What vendor did you purchase them off of? I need to get new tires and was going to go from 18" to 20" and either the gloss black or hyper silver.

thanks

Ajag, did you have these last winter as well? Nail any big potholes with them and how long have you had them? I am looking at the same vendor

thanks

These hyper silver ones with the Blizzak's are brand new...just put them on like 2 weeks ago...last winter I was running the stock 18" wheels and stock tires (goodyears I think?)

FYI- The rims were less than $800 shipped and the Tires I got off Ebay as well for $644 for all 4 shipped ...perfect for the new England winter :)

From this guy http://www.ebay.com/itm/301688810423?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I also buy factory TPMS sensors from this guy http://www.ebay.com/itm/171752504604?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I ran the chrome spider monkeys all summer and had about 9k miles on them with good luck...

I too was torn between the Yokohama and Toyo's

I read that the Toyo's weren't that great in the rain but when I bought my chrome rims they had the Toyo's and I got them in a package deal

I've been really happy with them..smooth and quiet ...and they're fine in the rain ....not great but not dangerous either ..I've got maybe 9k miles on my Toyo's and the tread ware is very good..they still look new

I also have my jeep supercharged so I've done a lot of hard launches and they perform well ..Ive been happy with their high speed performance as well...I just bought a set of Lexani rims to use for next summer and I'm going with the Toyo's on those ....so I'll be a repeat customer..

Good luck with your decision

Thanks Ajag, those links will be very helpful in my pursuit of new wheels, tires and TPMS. Now the decision is Hyper Silver or Gloss Black wheels on the Brilliant Black Jeep

Personally...I love the way all black wheels look when sitting there...but I feel like you lose the detail of the rim when the car is moving.....I don't love the look of the Hyper silver but it's dark enough to give that blacked out effect for me...I searched long and hard for my next set of rims and this is what I ended up settling on

Its all black except for the silver star face...just enough silver to show the detail of the rim without losing the black effect ...at least for me

Lexani R4-

I Went with 22x10 " and am wrapping them up with Toyo Proxes ST2 in 305/40/22

Using the Factory TPMS Sensors...

I have the Brembo SRT brakes on my jeep so with that in mind it does limit the choices a little more than when it was stock ...These Lexani's should fit ...

I like the Lexani R7's as well....sharp looking wheels for sure ...it's just too hard to decide...that's why I am now on my 5th set of rims/tires in the past 2 years:thumbsup:

I'll be watching for those to be installed especially with the 305-40-22's.

I wanted that size but was too skittish on the fitment with rubbing etc.

What's the offset of the Lexani's.....my SRT8 in 22x10 are +45mm.

If yours work out for you with an offset anywhere near that, I might try out the 305-40-22's to give myself a bit more rubber to soften the harshness of the ride.

Just dropped the wheels off to get powder coated. Will be done next Wednesday! Does anyone know if the center caps from the OEM altitude wheels will fit to the Spider Monkeys? Also the guy gave me the lugs with the Spider Monkeys, I assume I shouldn't have an issue or should I order the gorilla lugs? Appreciate the feedback guys!

Just want to thank everyone helping me out with figuring out the right tire/wheel combo. Went with Toyo Proxes STII. Great tire overall! Just minimal noise coming to a stop, but besides that its a quiet tire and grips well. Got the wheels powdercoated by a local shop to us. Also added the MGP Brake Caliper Covers! BTW these are OEM Spider Monkeys, not reps. Any questions feel free to let me know.

Appreciate the feedback, but its a 3.6... Don't need to spend $3k on brembo kit for a 290hp car. I do have stoptech though on my E46 M3 . They don't say Brembo btw, they say Jeep. Also didn't want to paint if I decided to go a different route and these come on and off!

That's why the comment led off with
I THINK.....mofsteel. Actually if you check with some of the sellers of these rims they will state that a kit is needed if you try to remount your current TPMS. Point the finger at them for incorrect info since you seem to think that you have all the answers for everyone.

It's called a TPMS rebuild kit and it's only needed if the current shows signs of wear or corrosion. Tire shops offer it to everyone so they can make an extra buck even if it's not needed.

I don't think I have all the answers I know that I have some answers and I share them with the readers of this forum to help inform.

If I dont know the answer I silence my keyboard and not post anything because it will confuse others if im wrong ....unlike you.
