Re: Winter tires and rims for Overland in Canada
I have Continental ExtremeWinterContact tires on my Focus, and I'm not impressed with them at all. Much better than all-seasons, but mid-pack in the winter tire category.
I had Toyos on my BMW 740i, and they were fantastic. Never got stuck anywhere, and great control all the time.
In Québec, by law, we must have dedicated winter (snowflake and mountain icon) tires. I'd be willing to give the Blizzaks a try as I'm afraid the BFG All Terrain T/A KO's rubber compound might be too hard come winter. The Nokians are too pricey, although I keep reading/hearing they are the best (trust the Scandinavians to design a proper snow tire).
So I might return to Toyo, or try Bridgestone's Blizzak.
One thing I won't do this time is go without TPMS for the winter wheels. Five months of hearing a chime go off every time you start the car gets annoying.
Do Wrangler wheels fit the WK2 ? It might be an interesting alternative to Steelies if they clear the calipers/disks.
