Usually 4 months a year. If I get a set of rims without tpms, can I disable the monitoring or will I get the warning on the dash?

So total around $1700 for the total set up

I just picked up the same wheels in Gunmetal. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442888710.961650.jpg I figured that the overland is too nice to put black steelies on for half the year. Wheels plus in Edmonton

Re: Winter tires and rims for Overland in Canada

I have Continental ExtremeWinterContact tires on my Focus, and I'm not impressed with them at all. Much better than all-seasons, but mid-pack in the winter tire category.
I had Toyos on my BMW 740i, and they were fantastic. Never got stuck anywhere, and great control all the time.

In Québec, by law, we must have dedicated winter (snowflake and mountain icon) tires. I'd be willing to give the Blizzaks a try as I'm afraid the BFG All Terrain T/A KO's rubber compound might be too hard come winter. The Nokians are too pricey, although I keep reading/hearing they are the best (trust the Scandinavians to design a proper snow tire).

So I might return to Toyo, or try Bridgestone's Blizzak.

One thing I won't do this time is go without TPMS for the winter wheels. Five months of hearing a chime go off every time you start the car gets annoying.

Do Wrangler wheels fit the WK2 ? It might be an interesting alternative to Steelies if they clear the calipers/disks.

Re: Winter tires and rims for Overland in Canada

On my '14 overland I bought a set of 2012 18" rims for $400 added tpms and then bought blzzacks from Costco.
I ran blizzacks on a 91 grand caravan 20 years ago!
I also ran the Toyo observe on an 06 Magnum RT AWD
You can't go wrong with either brand as far as I am concerned!

Now - can anyone tell me in 17" wheels from a base GC will work on the overland? I suspect the brakes are bigger on the overland diesel than on a base Laredo; THEN I can run some bobby off road tires to play in the dirt

You can get 4 OEM sensors off eBay for $40 total.
Stick with 18s to be safe. 17s are not very appealing and you really won't notice the difference.

You get the warning.
No idea if legal to run that way north of the border.

TPMS are not (yet) mandatory in Canada.

Re: Winter tires and rims for Overland in Canada

Guys where can I find tpms in Canada other than the dealer and eBay? Dealer wants 65 each and would prefer to buy from a shop if possible.

Really like the touren wheels I might try and track them down!

The dealer price is daylight robbery. I couldn't find a local shop that could do much better.

My tire guy ended up getting me the TPMS from this ebay site & installed them with my wheels. I've had no issues at all them.
