I'm gonna find out tomorrow. Calling for 8" here. I will go drive in it just to try them lol. I'm liking the look. They stick out slightly more than the stock 20's which gives the jeep a nice aggressive look. Thanks for the compliments!
Hey JD!! So are you getting the snow? It started here (Chester County) around 3 pm & there is a few inches; the Jeep with it's Lattitudes is in the garage safe but do YOU have a bunch of the white stuff to try out the new tires? I am very interested how you like them in the snow! Dave
Oh yeah. We got pounded. Prob about 6-8" out there. I took it out this evening just to try it out. The road had a good 3-4" of unplowed snow. Jeep did great with the ipikes. I also encounter another road with slushy half melted mess and it handled that nicely too. I live up a 1/4 mile lane that was completely untouched and drove right up that too. Also took It off the lane into the yard for fun too. I'm happy with them and loving the look of the jeep for winter with the black mb chaos wheels.
Outstanding! Sounds like traction was good with the IPikes, I get mine Wednesday, we got up this morning to about 3 inches with a an icy crust, hard to shovel. If you were going down unplowed roads and across your yard without issues then you should be good for about anything. In my 50 years of driving, plowing, etc. I have found that only the depth vs the clearance under the vehicle becomes the limiting factor. Gotta have tires and clearance! On you tube there is a video of a few years ago maybe, of a SRT Grand Cherokee (last body style) going up an unplowed drivewayin a crazy amout of snow, if you search SRT Grand Cherokee in Snow it will probably show up. Sure got my attention! Glad about your tires! Dave
Ya I saw that video before. That SRT was impressive. I drove in a little deeper snow than I did yesterday with the stock 20's and got a little worried I was going to get stuck. I made it but it made me second guess doing it again with all season tires lol...
Great pictures! Well since you are in Johnstown I would think the tires will be good insurance. Can you tell/feel the difference over the stock tires? I have actually never had dedicated "Snow" tires, all my pickups had aggressive on/off road types and all plowed very well in about anything. My SUV's all had Michelin MS2's and they did ok in the snow. Do you just select "Snow" mode on the Limited and let the Hankooks do their thing? My daughters 2004 Liberty with about shot Goodyears has SelecTrac and in Part Time 4 wheel drive I just put it in Drive or sometimes 2nd gear and it is like a little tank! Do you ever use 4-Low? Like how your dedicated wheels look too. Dave
Ya I just used snow mode. I mainly got them for stopping and turning. I was never 100% happy with the stock tires for that. I moved to jtown from chambersburg just recently and it's a def worth while investment for around here. It snowed all day today and they weren't really even calling for it lol... I do miss the milder weather down east but glad to be "back home". These are my second set of winters. I got the same tires for my Camry this year also. I always survived on all seasons growing up around here and living down east but I alleys heard how much of a diff winter tires make and figured now that I live here for good I misewell get them. Especially with a long driveway that blows/drifts shut all winter. I will be pulling the Camry out with the jeep Im sure at some point lol. Oh and not much diff in feel. Maybe slightly softer feeling over the lower profile 20" tires. Slightly noisier too but not a big deal
I'm guessing you needed a torque wrench to swap the wheels yourself... I'm wondering if I should just go buy a torque wrench and do it myself instead of hauling my oem set to a store to swap back for the summer
In 20+ years of swapping out my own wheels I've never used a torque wrench on the lugs. I even own two just don't feel it's necessary. Hand tight is good enough.
I check the torque on wheels every couple of months and when I change over from winter ties or two winter tires I check and verify the torque to prevent warped rotors etcs. Same if I have tires rotated with an oil change I get home and first thing I do is check torque. I have been known to check torque in the dealers parking lot. Get 1/2" drive torque wrench from Sears and thin walled i/2' drive deep impact socket. One day I get a nice Snap On torque wrench.
Never verified torque with BMW when I got back from the shop since I had seen the owner check torque with his Snap On. No impact guns and sticks.
I use a torque wrench on mine. I just swapped back to summer tires and this reminds me I need to go out and recheck the torque since it's prob been 100 miles since I swapped them. Always check your wheel torque after someone works on them too. Mother inlaws one wheel came loose and almost fell off 3 miles from a jeep dealer once.
