If you want a smooth ride, you do NOT want 20" wheels. I have no idea why they would put 20" on a Jeep, they are worthless off-road. Big rims are for looks only, no benefit on or off-road

Wrong. The 20" wheels also gives the WK2 much better steering response on road.

Re: Wk2 Has a very harsh suspension in my opinion...

^^True. Test drove one with the 18s and 20s because going from a sports car to a suv i was craving something smooooth. I thought i'd get the 18s for sure, but after the test drive i was sold on the 20s. What got me was taking this same highway exit ramp with both test drives. Big diff with steering feel and body roll. It felt great and i didn't feel the ride was harsh.

No almost 2 years later, maybe i am being overly critical or just got used to the ride, but i feel like it doesn't absorb as well. I had my PSI high before, so now lowered it to 35 all around. That def helped but my gas mileage is worse. Going uneven surfaces is not fun with the side to side shake... but i guess that's most SUVs. mostly straight line driving on decent roads and its soft as a pillow.

Re: Wk2 Has a very harsh suspension in my opinion...

Greetings,

I was able to get a Laredo X with the QL back in Feb 2011, everybody that has rode in my WK2 tank can not believe the ride. I have BFG Rugged Terrain T/A on/off road tires running at 35 psi. On a recent 7 hour trip to my friend wedding, my fellow wedding guests thought they were riding in a Benz.

Just recently, the JGC was in the shop to replace the wheel bearings and they gave me a Wrangler (IMO, great 4x4) rental to use. Nobody liked the ride because they were used to the soft ride of the JGC, spoiled.

Best for now.

My 20s ride smoother than my 18s. Many here use 20s off road with much success.

Most here don't give a rats behind about off road rock sledding capability but want optimum all weather on road and moderate trail capability.

The 20s are functionally superior than 18s on the street. 20s provide more margin of safety on the highway, 18s provide more resistance to pot hole, debris, and curb damage.

Some tires are smoother, others have a harsher ride regardless of rim size.
