WK2 Lift Options w/ Load leveling Suspension (not QL)

Hey All,
Just picked up a '11 WK2, Hemi, QTII, ORA1 with Load Leveling Suspension and I'm looking for lift options in the 2.5-3.5" range to fit Duratrac 275/70/18 on stock 18" wheels (possible upgrade to 18" Mopar wheels). Specificaly, I am looking for a good overlanding set-up (not rock crawler) that will meet or exceed current on-road handling, but give me more articulation. I am 95+% on highway, snowy mountain and city driving; probably not needing to do much more than class 3+ trails.

Any good comparisons out there? or any recommendations and/or first-hand accounts?

Did some digging and, so far, have found only two options (neither of which will give me any much needed additional articulation): The best I found is a 2.5" spacer lift by Rocky Road Outfitters; a distant second option would be Tuff Country's Leveling Kit which boosts by 1.75". I have taken the WK2 out on two short excusions so far, and have found the limited articulation to be as much of a hinderance as the lack of mid-belly height. I haven't begun research yet (due to limited funds for multiple upgrades at this time), but also feel that a rear-loccking diff is in order. I plan to get a Roof rack/light bar, Mopars Rock Rails, 275/70/18 Duratracs, rear bumber tire mount and am having a Class-III front reciever hitch installed for a portable winch (Warn XD9000i Portable). The front hitch goes on Oct 28th.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, suggestions and/or critcisms...

Sounds like you're getting ready for some serious off-roading. Are you thinking mud holes or rock climbing?

Thanks for the support. I live in Tahoe and plan to do our local trails; mostly granite and packed dirt/sand, but not really wanting a supper soft rock suspension and will not be pushing it through any major mud. The reality is on my two short outings I've been held back from my goal by the vehicle's capabilities. Nothing too serious (class II+), but enough to make me know I need to beef this rig up. I may be solo in the backcountry at times and the winch is mostly just a safety precaution for those times and the rear diff is as much for getting out of my driveway in huge snow storms as it is for anything else (I live at 7,000 feet and we often get over 300" of snow a year). I have owned a CJ7, TJ, XJ and now the WK2 in addition to a Disco2 up here. Every one of those vehicles has gotten stuck getting in/out of the roads around my house (just getting to/from work; not playing offroad) before the plow truck clears a path in the mornings. In the Winter I plan to run studded Duratracs for traction, and I need the lift to avoid getting high-centered.

OK, one more Newbie question for you all: Has anyone seen any Sway Bar Quick Disconnects out there? I thought I'd read somewhere that they could possibly be manufactured, but I haven't seen any actual examples...

I emailed RRO re: tires sizes. I am thinking of going taller, but not more wide to avoid rubbing such as running 265/70/18s (32.6x10.7x8.3), but they didn't offer any guidance regarding fit. They just told me to instal the lift and see what tire/wheel combo works. I went to a lift shop to get an instal price quote for the RRO, but they haven't got back to me yet. My front hitch goes on in a couple weeks. I have a shop fabbing a custom mount now. Also looking into roof rack options... Not sure if I want to go with the Thule system (no basket) or maybe something like RRO's safari style rack. Either way, after the roof rack will come a set of offroad lights and onboard air compressor.

I wish there were other lift options available, specifically looking for something more flexy; but, in the meantime, RRO it is.

Took the Jeep offroad twice this week and getting more comfortable with its abilities. I still am eager for a locking rear diff option in the future, as there are several loose hill climbs that I should be able to make and can't (yet) -- maybe with the new tires!

And lastly, since no thread is good without pics. In this shot (link below), I am unable to roll forward any further. My front right and left rear kept spinning and didn't have any further articulation to dig-in. Of course I could take a run at it with momentum as it is a simple obstacle, but I was wanting to test test the suspension and QTII system...

Took my Lardeo X out to Hollister Hills, CA yesterday, and was definitely limited in articulation and the low nose. I was expecting to catch the air dam on a lot of features, but was surprised that it didn't hit anything except one "oops". It was the skid plate covering the front axle that took the most scuffs, although minor. The middle of the frame and rear end never scraped at all. I will hopefully be getting the RRO leveling kit in the next couple of weeks, as the 1.75" in the front will do wonders.

Overall, I was pleased with the stock performance, but understand the lack of articulation and low underbelly really held me back.

Also, for kicks, I tried to fit a JK Rubicon 17" wheel and tire, and it bolted on fine, but could use a small spacer (1/8-1/4") in front. The rear seemed to clear just fine as is.
