WK2 Overland with Off Road Package

Does anyone know if the off road package can be installed after purchasing one of the more available Overlands that come without the skid plates and 18 inch tires? It seems the only way to get this Jeep is to custom order and wait weeks as opposed to obtaining the more readily available Overlands on dealer lots. Def want the off road package as we intend to go to Jeep Jamboree. Anyone take this latest Overland to camp Jeep and how did the vehicle do on the trails? Thanks for all of your input Happy Holidays!

Re: WK2 Overland with Off Road Package

If you have a V8 and are expecting to get rear ELSD (in a 2012), it is only available as part of the ORA or as part of the summit.

The other pieces, skid plates/ wheels/tires/tow hooks, trail-ready badge can be purchased and retrofitted, although the tow hooks are a PITA. You may want to consider getting an install price from the dealer as part of the sales deal. Fuel tank skids require a bit of effort, everything else can be done in about 30-45 minutes.

Thanks for the feedback. If you already have the Overland 2012 without the off road package, is it possible to also get the electronic rear slip differential to be installed at a later time along with the skid plates and all terrain tires and rims?

Re: WK2 Overland with Off Road Package

I think I've seen mentioned that the OR package from the factory comes with some extra protection for fuel line / filter that you don't get if you buy the skid plates separately?

Re: WK2 Overland with Off Road Package

I read somewhere that the factory installed OR package also includes some type of waterproofing for underhood wiring and beefed up door gaskets.

You need to get the off road 2 package if you want the elsd and the quadra drive 2 all wheel drive which is the ultimate all wheel drive it is constantly monitoring wheel spin to all tires and can instantly apply almost 100% torque to one tire, pretty awesome. I have taken mine into some deep heavy sand with fully ingflated tires and it is pretty neat. For 995 you'd be silly to attempt this after it would cost thousands to change the entire drive system and add elsd.

Re: WK2 Overland with Off Road Package

I have a 2012 Overland, and installed all the skids on now which you can see at the link below:

http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=30566

I still have to install the tow hooks, that is coming up soon.

Fuel/Brake Line Skid Mopar Part# 68069365AA {X3F} MSRP $70.20
This is the skid plate that comes as a plastic shield on non X3F equipped Grand Cherokees. This part number is for the metal skid plate, not the plastic skid plate that others have trimmed to fit, then remounted. I need to check with the Jeep parts desk at my dealership to make sure this skid plate is available, will post back into this thread when I find out.

That skid plate is available at any authorized mopar dealer. It's a full metal skid plate not the plastic skid-strip that comes on all non {X3F} equipped grand cherokee builds. Check out this thread for more info;
