I recently purchased my first jeep, a 2011 GC Overland with the Hemi. So far I have been very impressed with the Jeep and couldn't be happier. I have done a couple small modifications as I have only had it for a couple of weeks. I have changed the all chrome grill to the black Altitude grill, tinted the windows 20% to match the back stock tints, and plasti dipped my wheels black. I only did the wheels this way to see if i would like the black look on the rims before I got actual black wheels.

I have been trying to find someone to paint the stock overland wheels, but haven't had much successs yet. I started to look into replica wheels in either gloss black or matte black, but I am on the fence about replicas.

I ordered 4300K HIDs for my fog lights to match the projector headlight. There are also a couple other things I want to switch from chrome to black as well to continue the theme through out. I was thinking about removing the chrome lower door trim, but can't decide if I want to do that. And finally I will be getting the mopar air intake to help the Hemi breath a little better and sound a little tougher.

Damn that looks friggin nice! Good idea on doing the plasti dip first to see if you like the look. When and if you do get black wheels would you be going with the Altitude gloss black wheels or something else? If so I think you would like the gloss black wheels even more than the matte/flat finish you get with plasti dip. I think gloss black Altitude wheels would look awesome on your Jeep.

I know you have only had the Jeep for a short time, but a couple other mods that could go a long way on your setup is the removal of the side molding chrome strip. Easy to do and its free :) When I had my 2012 Overland I removed that and added the '14/'15 Grand Cherokee letters. Cleaned up the side a lot, or some people don't even add the letters and just leave it as is.
The black bezel headlights from the SRT would look killer on yours as well, but those could be fairly expensive I would imagine.

Congrats on the purchase. Oh and there are some nice exhaust options as well if you want to add a little more sound to the Hemi. Corsa and Borla to name two.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. When I do get the wheels, I think I will be getting them in the gloss black. The matte looks good, but like you said the gloss will look that much better. I'm going to take that trim off as well. I have seen it done and I think it looks cleaner without that trim on the door too.

I should look into the headlights. I didnt know you could do that and use the SRT ones. So I'll have to find somewhere that has them and check it out for sure. I appreciate all the tip and suggestions man.

I tried the side door trim yesterday and well ... it didnt go so well for me. I turned out much lighter than my wheels. Then when I tried to take the tape off, it dip started to peel up around the edges. So now I'm thinking of just take the trim off, because the dip didnt look all that great compared to the brillant black on my Jeep.

Any advice on trying to take off the trim? I've taken badgesoff before, but nothing this large.

I'm going to give it a try later on tonight. I tried looking for color matching side molding instead of the chrome, but couldnt find anything. So I'll just remove them and keep the side clean.

Do you know if thats the case for the back chrome panel.I dont want to pull that off and mess up my back-up camera or the unlock button. I know they make a color matching part for that.

The sides can be removed using fishing line. Just run it slowly behind the chrome until the double sided tape breaks lose. You don't want to rip them off.

The rear panel will need to be swapped out with that of the Altitude.
IMO plastidip will look decent from 25ft anyway but nothing id ever use on my car.

Here is the part.

The fishing line idea is great... never would have thought of that. Thats the exact rear panel I was looking at too, but a different, more expensive site. So thank you.

I'm not really a fan of plasti dip either. I used it on my wheels to see if I liked the black before I made a permanent choice with the color. And from what I saw of the dipped side molding, didn't look good against the paint to me.

I puledthe oor trim off last night using he fihng line method. Damn was it tough getting the remaing tape off the door and still have tiny amounts leftto clan up. I will post pictures soon.

May get a glos black Gran Cherokee emblem for the door, that or chrome I cant decide.

For now I think I'll leave it clean. I like the way it looks. I ordered Laminx gunsmoke covers for my tail lights and an extra strip to do the third brake light. I'll post good pictures tomorrow on the clean sides.

Just the lower side moldings. I left the window trim chrome, that and the mirrors. I'll probably leave those as is for now because I like them chrome.

The only price if gotten so far is $600 for sand blasting, fixing wheels Imperfections, straighteninh, and powder coating with life time guarantee. That's all so far.

No problem. There is also the idea of purchasing OE Rep wheels for around 500 but that doesnt include mounting and balancing and selling my wheels or looking in the classifieds for wheels I would want.

I just re did two of my wheels since I wasn't happy with the way they came out and used more glossifier and these came out great. I'm going to try adding more coats of gloss and see how it turns out.

Here is the picture of the newly painted wheels that I re-dipped yesterday. If you look back at the previous pictures you can see how big of a difference there is. Why there is such a difference it the color/gloss ... I'm not sure.

Tried to do the Laminx on the tail lights last night and it was pretty hard. From a few feet away it dosn look bad, still need some tuff to settleutof the next wek or so. I think it looks good. I have very light headlight nd fogs coming in so I'll probabl have a pro do those or me.
